    Abstract: A near field communication (NFC) sticker which stores a key is attached to a new client device. A remote commander in a home network reads the key using a NFC interface and IR-transmits it to a home network server. Once the client is connected to the network, it encrypts its own device information with the key and sends the encrypted information to the server, which decrypts the data with the key sent from the remote commander. In this way, client device registration is executed easily and securely.

    Abstract: In accordance with certain embodiments consistent with the invention, a power line communication (PLC) bridge circuit, consistent with certain embodiments, has a first coupler that couples data signals to and from a main power line circuit. A second coupler couples data signals to and from a branch power line circuit, wherein the branch power line circuit is branched from the main power line circuit. A first communication transceiver is connected to the first coupler for transferring data signals to and from the first coupler. A second communication transceiver is connected to the second coupler for transferring data signals to and from the second coupler. A controller examines data signals from the first transceiver and determines if the data is destined for the second transceiver, so that data that is not destined for the second transceiver is considered local data. The controller also examines data signals from the second transceiver and determines if the data is destined for the first transceiver, so that data that is not destined for the first transceiver is also considered local data. A bridge passes data signals between the first communication transceiver and the second transceiver when the controller determines that the data is not local, and passes data signals between the first communication transceiver and the second communication transceiver when the controller determines that the data is local. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

    Abstract: A method of providing a software patch to an electronic device. A device containing a software patch for an electronic device may be plugged to an el ectrical outlet. A plurality of electronic devices may be queried, over a po wer line through the electrical outlet, for identifying the electronic devic e requiring the software patch. As a result, the electronic device requiring the software patch may also identify the version of the firmware installed on the electronic device. Test signals may be sent over the power line to de termine the signal quality of various multiple carriers for using OFDM schem e. Suitability of various sub-carriers for sending the software patch over t he power line may be determined. Higher density modulation may be used for h igher quality sub- carriers to send the software patch to the electronic dev ice. An acknowledgment signal for receipt of the properly received authentic ated software patch may be received.

    Abstract: A method of synchronizing decoders within a network to a server includes receiving a set of timestamps and local clock signals upon receiving the beacon interrupt signal, computing differential timestamp and local clock values based on values of timestamp and local clock signals, respectively, within the sets of timestamp and local clock signals, determining whether the differential local clock value has a predetermined relationship with the differential timestamp value, and transmitting a clock rate adjustment command signal to the decoder when differential local clock value does not have the predetermined relationship with the differential timestamp value. The clock rate adjustment command signal adjusts the local system time clock of the decoder such that a subsequent differential clock value will have the predetermined relationship with the differential timestamp value. When this method is performed for each decoder within the network, the decoders are substantially synchronized and the decoding delay can be kept below humanly perceptible levels.

The detected header is read from memory a second time and the page data is read from memory at a time in accordance with certain data included in the pre-read header.     Abstract: A graphical user interface (GUI) is described. The GUI includes first GUI elements that provide a visual representation of the nodes of an audio/video device. In response to user input, a signal is caused to be routed between nodes by manipulating circuitry within the audio/video device. Second GUI elements provide a visual representation of the signals being routed within the electronic device between pairs of first GUI elements (e.g., between nodes). As a result, the user can readily understand which nodes are connected to each other. Thus, for example, a user can easily visualize which source node is providing input to a target node and, by selecting the appropriate GUI elements, can just as easily switch from one source to another or from one target to another.
