An information processing system, an information processing device, an information processing method, a program, and a recording medium capable of preventing redundant purchase of a license. A client (1) requests a license server (4) to issue a license and acquires it. According to the license, the client (1) utilizes the content. The license server (4) provides a license to utilize a content. The client (1) judges whether the license requested to the license server is identical to a license which the client (1) already owns. According to the judgment result, the client (1) reports to the user that the license requested by the client (1) is identical to the one already owned by the client (1). This invention can be applied, for example, to a computer for utilizing a digital content by acquiring its license.

When data are recorded on a recording medium with one sector being a unit, additional information for reproducing data is recorded separately from the data as sub-codes in each sector on the data recording medium. Hence the reproduction of data can be controlled by using the sub-codes. Therefore, the usefulness of the data recording medium can be remarkably improved.

A data reproducing device and a data recording medium with which synchronous reproduction of multiplexed data of video data, audio data, and screen data compressed at variable rates and other various kinds of functions can be accomplished. Data are reproduced from a data recording medium in units of sector numbers and data of minus sector numbers added to a sector are also reproduced. Multiplexing information indicating whether or not video data, audio data, and screen data are multiplexed or not and the position information of access points used for searching data and making random access to the data are recorded at the locations specified by the negative sector numbers, and the informations are reproduced.

Transmission of information is performed by detecting a first area point from coded data, generating a packet containing position information about a second area point before or after the first area point based on the first area point, and then, multiplexing the packet at a prescribed position of the transmitted coded data. A data decoding device which decodes reproduced data read out from a recording medium on which coded data prepared by multiplexing such a packet has a separating means which separates the coded data and the packet containig the position information about at least one second area point before or after the first area point and at least one piece of additional information about the coded data from the coded data, decoding means which decodes the coded data separated by means of the separating means, and control means which controls the read-out position of the recording medium based on the position information and additional information at the time of special reproduction. Therefore, the data recorded on the recording medium can be searched at a desired speed by using the data of the transmitted packet at the time of special reproduction.

A data multiplexer for multiplexing at least digital moving picture data and pattern data (character data) comprises a packetizing means for.forming the digital moving picture data and the pattern data into PES packets of a predetermined format based on the MPEG-2 standard, each packet consisting of a header and an actual data region; an adding means for adding, to the header of each packet, a flag to identify the moving picture data and the pattern data; and a means for multiplexing the packets. An ID flag recorded in the header of each PES packet serves to identify a video packet, an audio packet or a pattern data packet. Each packet of the pattern data and the digital moving picture data includes a time stamp indicative of decode or display timing. In this data multiplexer, the pattern data (character data) on any horizontal scanning line can be multiplexed and recorded with the digital moving picture data.

Soporte de grabación para su utilización conjuntamente con un aparato controlado por procesador y que presenta grabados en el mismo unos datos de imágenes codificados, estando grabados dichos datos de imágenes codificados como un flujo continuo de datos que representa grupos de imágenes (GOP), comprendiendo cada GOP por lo menos una imagen intracodificada (imagen I), y por lo menos una imagen codificada por predicción (imagen P), e información posicional que representa las posiciones respectivas de dicha por lo menos una imagen I y dicha por lo menos una imagen P con respecto a dicha por lo menos una imagen I, permitiendo así que el aparato controlado por procesador reproduzca a partir del soporte de grabación los datos de imágenes codificados en un modo de reproducción especial utilizando la información posicional para seleccionar la imagen I y la imagen P.

The invention provides a a recording data production apparatus and method, a recording medium reproduction apparatus and method and a recording medium by which interruption of data can be prevented even when reproduction of data is performed in a different order from the order in which the data are recorded. When it is intended to allow reproduction of data in an order of a block A, a block B and a block D or in another order of the block A, a block C and the block D, in order to prevent underflow of data from a buffer memory of a reproduction apparatus, the block B is sectioned into sections B 1 to B 3 and the block C is sectioned into sections C 1 to C 3 . Then, the lengths of the sections are set to a predetermined value, and the blocks are arranged in an order of the blocks A, B 1 , C 1 , B 2 , C 3 , B 3 , C 3 and D. In each section, addresses of a jumping start point and a jumping destination are recorded as control information.
