    Abstract: PURPOSE:To detect accurately the state of wear of a magnetic head, by detecting the wear progressing state of the head in the form a change of impedance of a magnetic head circuit. CONSTITUTION:The impedance Z of a magnetic head circuit 1 increases as the depth length of a magnetic head 5 is reduced due to the wear of the head. As a result, the current and voltage supplied to the primary side of a rotary transformer 4 are varied, and an impedance detecting circuit VIMP goes up in accordance with the change of the depth length of the head 5. Therefore the input voltage V2 of a voltage comparator 8 rise higher than the reference voltage V1, and accordingly the light emitting part of a wear display device 10 extends toward scales t2, t3.... Then it is understood that the wear of the head 5 progresses up to the end of the head lifetime when the tip of the light emitting part of the device 10 reaches red scales t3 and t4. In such a way, the weared state of a magnetic head can be accurately detected.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a fluctuation of the tape transport extent caused by a change of speed of slow motion reproduction, by controlling the level or width of the intermittent transport driving pulse in accordance with the intermittent period of a tape. CONSTITUTION:The slow motion reproducing speed with which the intermittent normal transport due to a capstan equivalent to a pitch of the control signal corresponding to a frame of pause of a magnetic tape within a prescribed frame period number is repeated varies in accordance with the number of selection frame periods in a stop mode. In case the speed of reproduction is varied, a slow-speed monostable multivibrator 6 is controlled via a transistor 20, a capacitor 18 and others with control of a variable resistance 21 of a correcting circuit 17. Then the width and others are controlled for the driving pulse delivered from a forward-turn monostable multivibrator 7, and thus a correction is given to the fluctuation of the starting state due to the residuel energy according to the slow reproduction speed of the intermittent drive of a capstan produced by a step motor 1 or the like. In the same way, a fluctuation can be prevented for the tape intermittent transport extent caused by a change of speed of slow motion reproduction also at the brake side.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify greatly the control of a compensation circuit, by performing a still reproduction with use of a pair of rotary heads which is provided at a position away from an angulr distance of 180 deg. by a specific angular distance. CONSTITUTION:An azimuth slant recording is carried out to reproduce a recording medium containing a recording pattern in which a shift of 0.75H (H: distance equivalent to a horizontal period on track) is caused. In this case, rotary heads 1A and 2A distributed with a shift of angle of 0.25H' (H': angle equivalent to a horizontal period) to an angular distance of 180 deg. are used. Thus a jumping compensation is possible in a still reproduction mode of a record pattern to which no H arrangement is given and by producing alternately a state with an intervention of a delay circuit of 0.5Th (Th: a horizontal period) and a state with no intervention at a compensation circuit. In the case of a record pattern having no H arrangement, a state with an intervention of a delay circuit of 0.25Th and a state with no intervention are produced alternately. In such way, the control of a compensation circuit is greatly simplified.

CONSTITUTION:When a power supply is interrupted, a pickup 1 is supported to a position where power supply is interrupted, that is, the last position by a mechanical means such as a rack 4 and a pinion 5, and the last position is maintained till the power supply is applied again. In application of the power supply again, the position of the pickup 1 at application of the power supply, that is, the information of the last position is stored, and when the difference of position between the present position information and the stored last position information of the pickup 1 comes to a prescribed value, the reproduced state is attained. Thus, the reproduction from the last position is attained without using a nonvolatile memory.

    CONSTITUTION: In a reproduction mode preceding a record mode next to a joint record mode, switch circuits 31 and 32 are switched to the side of a terminal PB by the signal MRP sent from a timing signal generating circuit 30. Then the reproduction outputs given from rotary heads 25A and 25B are supplied to a head switch circuit 41. The circuit 41 is switched by the switch signal PAB given from the circuit 30. The signal PAB obtained in a reproduction mode has a double frequency as much as the switch signal obtained in a record mode. The outputs of rotary heads 25A and 25B are switched every half revolution. This switching time point is set at about the middle of the scan period of heads 25A and 25B respectively. That is, the reproduction outputs of heads 25A and 25B are obtained from the circuit 41 in the first half and the second half of each scan period respectively.
