    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for the preparation of the polyester containing less alien substance than ever. SOLUTION: The process for the preparation of a polyester, comprising the esterification or transesterification of a dicarboxylic acid or its esterifiable derivative and a diol component consisting mainly of 1,4-butan diol by using as a catalyst an organic titanium compound and then the polycondensation thereof, is characterized by adding to the reaction system a cyclic compound having one or more hydroxyalkyl groups along with the above organic titanium compound.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition excellent in moldability, mechanical properties, heat resistance, and surface properties; and a molded article comprising the same. SOLUTION: The resin composition contains a polylactic acid resin, a polyacetal resin, and a mold release agent. In the composition, the polylactic acid resin and the polyacetal resin are compatibilized with each other. The mold release agent is at least one substance selected from the group consisting of higher fatty acids, higher fatty acid metal salts, oxy fatty acids, fatty acid esters, paraffin, low-molecular-weight polyolefins, aliphatic amides, and alkylenebis fatty acid amides. SOLUTION: This method for producing a poly(lactic acid) block copolymer comprises (1) a first step of producing each of poly(L-lactic acid) composed of an L-lactic acid unit and poly(D-lactic acid) composed of a D-lactic acid unit, (2) a second step of mixing poly(L-lactic acid) and poly(D-lactic acid) obtained at the first step, and (3) a third step of solid-phase-polymerizing the mixture of poly(L-lactic acid) and poly(D-lactic acid) obtained at the second step at a temperature lower than its melting point.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain polybutylene terephthalate excellent in quality and capable of being used in various kinds of uses as fiber, film and injection molded products by conducting esterification reaction and polycondensation reaction of 1,4-butylene glycol containing 2-(4'-hydroxybutoxy)tetrahydrofuran and terephthalic acid containing acetic acid as raw materials by a direct polymerization method. SOLUTION: By conducting esterification reaction and polycondensation reaction of a glycol comprising 1,4-butylene glycol as a principal ingredient and 0.05 to 0.5 wt.% 2-(4'-hydroxybutoxy)tetrahydrofuran and a dicarboxylic acid comprising terephthalic acid as a principal ingredient and 0.003 to 0.2 wt.% acetic acid, polybutylene terephthalate is obtained. The esterification reaction is conducted preferably at a reaction temperature of 180 to 250 deg.C, a pressure of 100 to 600 mmHg and a polybutylene terephthalate oligomer conversion of >=97%.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester having a quality comparable or superior to that of conventional polyester while shortening the polymerization time by supplying and passing a polyester in molten state through a vertical stirring thinfilm evaporator. SOLUTION: A polyester or its oligomer is supplied to and passed through a vertical stirring thin-film evaporator in molten state to increase the polymerization degree of the polyester. Preferably, the polyester or its oligomer has an intrinsic viscosity of 0.3-1.0 before passing through the evaporator, the intrinsic viscosity of the polyester after passing through the evaporator is higher than that of the polyester before passing by >=0.1, the reaction is carried out under a pressure lower than atmospheric pressure or in an inert gas flow and the polyester is a polymer selected from among polybutylene terephthalate, polycyclohexylene dimethylene terephthalate and polyethylene terephthalate.
