Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a product having an excellent productivity and quality with a simple facility by insulating a conductive portion of a surface of a charged roll from a core of the roll and manufacturing a cast sheet. SOLUTION: The sheet is directly charged, efficiently brought into close contact with a cooling medium, air entraining between the sheet and the medium or an instability of a bank mold is suppressed by the sheet sandwiched between the charged roll and the medium. A conductive portion of the surface of the charged roll is insulated from the core of the roll. In order to cool the surface of the roll even without passing an insulation refrigerant, the cooling medium used for the cooling medium is branched, guided to the charged roll to simplify an apparatus constitution and to simplify apparatus maintenance. If the charged roll and the cooling medium are discharged therebetween, only the conductive layer on the surface of the charged roll is damaged, but the surface of the charged roll is not largely roughed. Adverse influence is not effected to the surface of the film, and the damage is limited only to the surface layer and the roll can easily be recycled. Thus, a casting speed can be accelerated, and the sheet of high quality can be manufactured with good productivity.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform excellent productivity and quality by coating a surface of a charging roll and/or a surface of a cooling medium with liquid before a molten sheet is brought into contact with the roll. SOLUTION: Before a molten sheet is brought into contact with a charging roll, a surface of the roll and/or a surface of a cooling medium is coated with liquid, and the sheet is cast while holding the sheet between the roll and the medium. Then, an oil film is formed between the roll and/or the medium and the sheet. If the roll is coated with the liquid, a gap is eliminated between the roll and the sheet by the film, and the charge of the roll is uniformly given to the sheet. If the medium is coated with the liquid, close adhesive properties of the sheet with the medium are further enhanced. Here, as the coating liquid, water or the like is used. After the formed sheet is released from the roll or the medium, liquid droplets retained on the surfaces are removed. Further, to uniformly coat the roll or the medium with the liquid as uniform droplets, humidified wet air is sprayed or the like.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sheet having excellent quality in good productivity by melting a thermoplastic resin, extruding the melt into a molten sheet, and solidifying the molten sheet by cooling its surface by insertion into between a charging roll composed of a metallic part and a non-metallic part and a cooling medium. SOLUTION: A thermoplastic resin such as a polyester resin is molten and extruded into a molten sheet. The molten sheet is cooled and solidified by insertion into between a charging roll with a surface composed of a metallic part and a non-metallic part (an areal coverage of 20-80%) and having an applied voltage of 100 V to 10 kV and a cooling medium such as a casting drum. If required, the sheet is heated to the glass transition temperature or higher and subjected to stretching and heat-treatment. The surface of the charging roll is composed of a metallic part such as carbon steel, stainless steel or those chrome-plated thereon and a non-metallic part such as a silicone resin and has a surface roughness of 1S or below. The drum acting as the cooling medium has a hard-chromium-plated surface and has a surface roughness of 0.5S or below.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for surface-treating a thermoplastic resin to give a surface-treated sheet reduced in a long-term change in surface tension, wherein that surface of the sheet which is to be subjected to surface activation treatment is in contact with a moving cooling medium kept at the glass transition temperature Tg of the thermoplastic resin or higher. SOLUTION: It is desirable that the surface temperature of a moving cooling medium in position just before the position where the molten thermoplastic resin sheet comes into contact with the cooling medium is between the glass transition temperature Tg and the crystallization temperature Tcc, and that the surface temperature of the moving cooling medium in position just before the position where the sheet is released from the medium is below the glass transition temperature Tg. It is desirable that the resin is brought into contact with the medium while electrostatic charges are being applied to the molten thermoplastic sheet. Thus, a film having not worsened slipperiness and easy usability can be efficiently formed. The surface activation treatment is corona discharge treatment, plasma treatment, flame treatment, ion implantation treatment, or ultrasonic treatment, and it is desirable that the face and back of the surface-activated resin sheet have different surface roughnesses. This is suitable as a base film of a thermal transfer ribbon or a base paper for thermal stencil printing.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable stretching reduced in lateral shrinkage and to reduce lateral shrinkage even in a sheet of which the end parts are thin by irradiating the surface of a thermoplastic resin sheet coming into contact with the surface of a moving cooling medium having a temperature held to a glass transition temp. of a resin or higher with local radiant heat for the sake of longitudinal stretching. SOLUTION: A molten thermoplastic resin sheet is brought into contact with a moving cooling medium and further heated by radiant heat to be stretched. The surface to which radiant heat is applied of the thermoplastic resin sheet is set to the contact surface with the moving cooling medium held to the glass transition temp. Tg of a thermoplastic resin or higher.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus of hot air heating capable of efficiently removing a contaminant in a hot air, and a method for manufacturing a high-quality thermoplastic resin film which is not contaminated with the contaminant. SOLUTION: In a hot air heating method or apparatus which thermally processes a material to be processed while forcing the hot air to be circulated, a photocatalyst 6 is disposed in a circulating path 4 of the hot air, and while light is illuminated to the photocatalyst 6 from a light illuminating means 8, the hot air is forcibly circulated. By using the hot air heating method and apparatus, the thermoplastic resin film is thermally stretched and/or thermally processed so as to manufacture a film.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a laminated polyester film having excellent scratch resistance, uniformity of protrusion heights by disposing at least one or more layers containing zirconium oxide particles each having a specific value or more of a specific surface area by a B.E.T. method and specifying its resistivity at the time of melting to a specific range. CONSTITUTION:A laminated polyester film is provided by disposing at least one or more layers containing zirconium oxide particles having 10m /g or more of a specific surface area by a B.E.T. method and having a resistivity at the time of melting of 5X106-5X10 OMEGA.cm. The specific surface area of the particles is necessarily 10m /g or more and preferably 20 400m /g. If the area is less than 10m /g, hydrophilic nature of the polyester is unpreferably low. When a resistivity at the time of melting is 5X10 -5X10 OMEGA.cm, a uniform film is obtained by an electrostatic casting method, and the particles are contained to improve scratch resistance of the laminated film. Further, when polyester having a resistivity of 5X10 -5X10 OMEGA.cm is used, protrusion heights of a surface of the film become uniform.
