    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the resistance to friction and collapse of the titled compd. higher than the usual compd. and to improve the solubility also, by granulating and forming a mixed crystal composition which is obtained by mixing a proper amt. of a specified coarse calcium hypochlorite dihydrate with the usual plate crystal, etc. CONSTITUTION:The granular calcium hypochlorite is formed by mixing the following two kind crystal of A and B in the wt. ratio of A:B=1:9-9:1. Namely (A) is the coarse calcium hypochlorite dihydrate and/or its anhydrate which is produced by growing a columnar calcium hypochlorite having the ratio between each axis of 0.5 =5mu (c) axis, and then (B) is the plate-crystal of the calcium hypochlorite dihydrate, etc., and/or its anhydrate. The above-mentioned the plate-crystal means a general term of plate crystal, twin crystal (layered crystal) and needle crystal.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve chemical resistance, heat resistance and ion exchanging characteristics by depositing zirconium hydroxide on an activated carbon. SOLUTION: The zirconium hydroxide used is generally produced by the reaction of a zirconium compd. and an alkali. The activated carbon is used as a carrier to carry the zirconium hydroxide, and it is not specified as far as it can carry the zirconium compd. and sulfonic acid compds. Not only a powder, granular or fiber activated carbon usually used but inactive carbon material such as graphite can be used. To produce the ion exchanging material, conditions are not specified as far as the zirconium compd. can be deposited on the activated carbon. For example, an activated carbon is dipped in a soln. containing the source material for a specified time to impregnate the activated carbon with the soln. of a zirconium compd. Thereby, by depositing zirconium hydroxide on the activated carbon, the obtd. material can be easily handled in each process and the capacity for ion exchange can be increased.
