    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymer compsn. having superior thermal stability, a low coefft. of thermal expansion, superior water and solvent resistances, a low dielectric constant, high resolution, superior mechanical characteristics and adhesiveness. SOLUTION: This polymer compsn. contains a polymer contg. several monomeric repeating units each having a haloalkyl substituent and several monomeric repeating units each having a photosensitivity imparting substituent capable of crosslinking or chain extension when exposed to chemical rays. The polymer has a specified structure and the photosensitivity imparting substituent is unsatd. ester, ether, alkylcarboxymethylene or a mixture of them.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a pattern with light by using a polymer having a specified structure and unsatd. ester groups as substituents provided with photosensitivity. SOLUTION: This polymer compsn. contains a polymer contg. at least several monomeric repeating units each having a substituent provided with photosensitivity and capable of crosslinking or chain extension of the polymer when the polymer is exposed to chemical rays. The polymer has a structure represented by the formula and the substituent is an unsatd. ester group. In the formula, (x) is 0 or 1, (n) is an integer showing the number of repeating monomeric units and each of A and B is a specified structure. A layer contg. the polymer is formed on a lower substrate with an array of heating elements and address electrodes with terminals formed on the array and the polymer is stuck on the surface of the substrate with the heating elements and the address electrodes on the elements. Desired mechanical and adhesive characteristics are ensured.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink cartridge capable of maintaining a desired negative pressure without reducing the ink storage capacity of an ink cartridge used in an ink-jet printer. SOLUTION: An ink cartridge 20 comprises an ink chamber 36 for storing an ink 38, a fluid path 60, and a ventilation opening part 62. A capillary tube plate 50 having a capillary tube chamber 52 is mounted on the fluid path 60. A plurality of ribs 58 of the capillary tube chamber 52 are provided to a position with a short distance from the inner surface of the capillary tube chamber 52. Thereby, a plurality of capillary tube gaps or capillary tube opening parts is formed. Since the ventilation opening part 62 is formed at the end part of the capillary tube plate 50 away from the outlet of the ink cartridge 20, communication of fluid is allowed between the ink chamber 36 and the external environment via the ventilation opening part 62, the capillary tube chamber 52 and the fluid path 60.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the ink resistance of a thermal ink jet print head and to improve the aspect ratio of an ink channel and a nozzle. SOLUTION: The thermal ink jet print head comprises an upper substrate, and a lower substrate on which heating element and address electrode arrays are formed. An insulation layer patterned to expose the end parts of the heating elements and address electrodes is attached onto the lower substrate. The upper substrate and the lower substrate are bonded each other and a liquid drop discharging nozzle is defined by the upper substrate, the insulation layer on the lower substrate, and the heating element in the lower substrate. At least one of the upper substrate and the insulation layer is formed by crosslinking phenol novolac resin having a glycidyl ether function group in monomer repeating unit.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet print head equipped with an ink-repellent coat which is abrasion resistant and hard to wear under the action of a wiper blade normally used at a maintenance part of an ink-jet printer. SOLUTION: An ink-jet print head 10 includes a plurality of channels. The channels can be replenished with ink from an ink source. Terminal ends of the channels become nozzles 27 at on surface of the print head 10. The surface has a covalent bonded organosiloxane polymer coat. The organosiloxane polymer coat is substantially uniform and has no further layer thereon.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print an image of photographic quality onto a plain paper by ejecting a developing composition, a coloring composition and an oxidizing composition imagewise onto a substrate and forming a part of print image by controlling overlap of these three kinds of composition. SOLUTION: A developing composition containing a liquid vehicle and a coloring developer, an oxidizing composition containing a liquid vehicle and an oxidizing agent, and a coloring composition containing a liquid vehicle and a dye coloring agent are set in an ink jet printer which ejects droplets 201, 203 and 205 of these developing, oxidizing and coloring compositions imagewise onto a substrate 207. A part of a print image face of different size is formed by varying overlap 209 of these droplets 201, 203 and 205. According to the method, quality of photographic image on a plain paper can be enhanced.
