    Abstract: In an elevator system in which two cars operate in each shaft, there is obtained an elevator group control apparatus which is capable of providing efficient services while preventing collisions of cars in each shaft as much as possible. The elevator group control apparatus includes: a traffic detection part (1B) which detects data of car traffic generated in a building; a zone setting part (1C) which sets a dedicated zone and a common zone for each of upper and lower cars in accordance with the results of detection of the traffic detection part; an assignment decision part (1D) which decides a car to be assigned to a call generated at a hall in accordance with a call generation floor, a direction of the call, and a zone set by the zone setting part; an entry determination part (1E) which, when one of two cars in each shaft is coming into the common zone from its dedicated zone, determines, based on the position, the direction of movement, and the state of the other car in the same shaft, whether the one car in each shaft is permitted to enter the common zone; a passing-by instruction part (1F) which gives a passing-by instruction to a prescribed floor in the dedicated zone so as to make each car exit from the common zone to its dedicated zone after each car has entered the common zone; and an operation control part (1G) which controls operation of each car based on the results from the assignment decision part, the entry determination part and the passing-by instruction part.

If a new destination call is registered, a car travel range calculator provisionally assigns a car to the new destination call and calculates the travel range of the provisionally assigned car and the travel range of the other car in the same shaft.     Abstract: An elevator system controller for efficient group supervisory control while avoiding collisions between two elevator cars in service in a single elevator shaft. The elevator system controller includes a risk calculating unit for calculating a risk of a collision between elevator cars in the same shaft when the elevator cars are responding to a new call for service, a car assigning unit for assignment of an elevator car to respond to the new call based on the risk of collision, and an operation control unit for controlling operation of the elevator cars based on the assignment by the car assigning unit. The risk of collision is calculated for each car, and the risk is recalculated based on a possibility of a withdrawal of one of the elevator cars to a position in the shaft where no collision can occur, based on a predicted arrival time of a car at the floor requiring service. Cars that have high risks of collision when the remaining cars in the same shaft cannot be withdrawn in time to a safe spot are removed as candidates for assignment to respond to the new call. An evaluation is carried out using several evaluation indexes, in addition to the risk of collision, to decide which car is to be assigned to respond to the new call. If a determination of a traffic condition indicates low usage of the elevator cars, one car in each shaft is forwarded to a rest position and paused.

    Abstract: An elevator group control apparatus collectively controls an elevator system where at least two cars can travel in each shaft independently of each other.
