An asphalt composition is prepared in a process, comprising the steps: a) heating reclaimed asphalt material that comprises reclaimed asphalt aggregates and recycle bitumen, wherein the amount of recycle bitumen is in the range of 0.1 to 2.5%wt, based on the weight of the reclaimed asphalt material; b) heating fresh bitumen; c)heating a reclaimed asphalt; d) mixing at least part of the heated reclaimed asphalt material obtained in step a) with at least part of the heated fresh bitumen obtained in step b) and with at least part of the heated reclaimed asphalt obtained in step c) to form the asphalt composition.

La presente invención está referida a un equipo industrial para el reciclado de mezclas asfálticas en caliente, caracterizado por comprender una batería portátil de tolvas de dosificación de RAP y materiales pétreos vírgenes montadas en una estructura de soporte, con moto-reductores para controlar la dosificación y que envían una señal a un Indicador de flujo en un tablero de control para su registro y control; por debajo de dicha batería de tolvas se dispone una banda transportadora que recibe el material y lo transporta hacia un cilindro rotatorio que comprende un quemador industrial de flama abierta para transmitir la energía térmica de forma indirecta al RAP y a los aportes de material pétreo virgen; un tanque almacén de una mezcla de asfalto - agente rejuvenecedor mejorado con polímeros que se dosifica por medio de una bomba de engranes de tipo volumétrica a través de una tubería hacia el cilindro rotatorio que a la salida comprende un sensor de temperatura que manda la señal al indicador de temperatura de mezcla asfáltica reciclada en el tablero de control; con un sistema elevador de la mezcla asfáltica reciclada que la conduce a un silo de descarga, un extractor de gases de combustión para la descarga de gases de la combustión del quemador; un tanque almacén de combustibles que se emplea en el quemador industrial y un elemento de medición de peso a la entrada del tambor rotatorio.

The invention relates to a device for preparing asphalt, comprising a cylindrical drum (3). The drum is rotatable about its longitudinal axis which is inclined downwards the horizontal plane. The drum has a feeding means (9) arranged at the intake end of the drum and adapted to feed material, in the form of suitable fractions of stone material and/or used asphalt, to the drum; feeding means (15, 17) for supplying a binder; a discharge means (13) arranged at the discharge end of the drum and adapted to discharge prepared asphalt paving material from the drum; a drive means (19) for rotating the drum; a burner (11) arranged at the intake end; and a plurality of carrying means (33) arranged in the drum. The carrying means which extend from the intake end of the drum to the discharge end thereof, receive the material from the feeding means and convey it through the drum. Each carrying means comprises a wall portion (35) which is connected to the wall (41) of the drum and which extends inwards from the wall of the drum, and a groove-shaped portion (37) which is connected to the wall portion and which is terminated with a longitudinal free edge (55), which is arranged at a distance from the wall and in front of the wall portion seen in the direction of rotation of the drum. The carrying means are so designed and mutually arranged that the material in a carrying means (57) during one revolution falls over the edge, is caught by the anteriorly situated carrying means (59), seen in the direction of rotation, and is returned to the carrying means which the material initially left via the drum wall portion (61) of the two neighbouring means. The invention also concerns a corresponding method.

An asphalt roofing material recycling system and method is used to recycle asphalt materials, such as asphalt shingles and tar paper that include granules, fibers or other particles. The asphalt material is simultaneously heated and milled in a heated milling apparatus, such as a heated ball mill (20), to reduce the asphalt material granules to a fine mesh in suspension in liquid asphalt. Excess moisture is removed from the asphalt material being recycled, either during heating and milling by continuously venting the heated milling apparatus, or before the heating and milling in a drying apparatus. The rotatable milling vessel includes a plurality of mixing members (32). The recycling system also includes a storage apparatus (16) and a filter apparatus (18).

A dryer drum coater (110) reduces blue smoke emissions by evacuating the blue smoke from the dryer drum coater independently of the exhaust of combustion products. The blue smoke, produced when heated and dried aggregate is mixed with other asphaltic products such as RAP or liquid asphalt, is preferably evacuated from a vapor outlet (216) formed remote from the exhaust products outlet of the coater and adjacent the heated and dried aggregate inlet of the mixing chamber. Evacuating the blue smoke at this location obviates the need to separate the blue smoke from the combustion products and also prevents the introduction of excess oxygen into the combustion zone of the dryer drum coater. In a particularly preferred arrangement, the evacuated blue smoke is fed directly to the combustion air inlet of the coater's burner (122) blower and is thereby incinerated.

A dryer drum coater (110, 310) has an internal recirculation cylinder (200, 400) for promoting the recirculation of combustion products so as to entrain and incinerate blue smoke formed when heated and dried virgin aggregate is mixed with other asphaltic products such as RAP and/or liquid asphalt in the dryer drum coater. The recirculation cylinder (200, 400) acts to extend and strengthen natural eddy currents formed during operation of the coater such that combustion product recirculation which would normally extend only in the end area of the flame extends far enough toward the base of the flame to entrain the blue smoke and to draw the blue smoke into the base area of the flame. The cylinder may comprise a refractory lined stainless steel shell (204) or may be formed from tee flights (402) of the type used in the combustion zones of dryer drum coaters.
