The clutch control means drives opening and closing of the sliding door by the motive power of the driving source, by adjusting the transmission maintaining force to a necessary minimum value required for stopping and holding the sliding door while monitoring output of the movement detecting means, and adjusting the transmission maintaining force to a value required for driving the opening and closing of the sliding door when the transmission maintaining force exceeds a predetermined level.
