    Abstract: A multifiber assembly and methods of using the same in an endoscopic procedure for transmitting illumination light to, and a response signal reflected from, a target are disclosed. An exemplary device comprises a proximal end, and distal end, and a transition section between the proximal and distal ends. The proximal end includes a first connector to be connected to a light source and a second connector configured to be connected to a spectrometer. The distal end include a shaft including at least two first optical fibers to transmit light and at least one second optical fiber to transmit a spectroscopic signal. The transition section can couple the first connector to the at least two first optical fibers, and to couple the second connector to the at least one second optical fiber.

    Abstract: A tool for use by a surgeon for operating a basket device for capturing an object to be removed from a body of an animal. The tool includes a first controller and a second controller. The first controller is adapted to be coupled to the basket device for selectively controlling the basket device and moving the basket device between a first, closed position and a second, open position. The first controller includes a plunger and cylinder mechanism; and a handle coupled to the plunger for operating the relative position of the plunger with respect to the cylinder. The second controller is positioned adjacent to the first controller and adapted to be coupled to the basket device for selectively independently controlling the rotation of the relative to the first controller.

    Abstract: A forceps including a gripping assembly. The gripping assembly includes an upper jaw and a lower jaw. The upper jaw includes a proximal end and a distal end. The upper jaw includes an upper tooth having an upper proximally facing canted tooth surface and an upper distally facing canted, tooth surface. The lower jaw includes a proximal end and a distal end. The lower jaw includes a socket having a lower distal!y facing canted socket surface and a lower proximally facing socket surface.
