Abstract: A multifiber assembly and methods of using the same in an endoscopic procedure for transmitting illumination light to, and a response signal reflected from, a target are disclosed. An exemplary device comprises a proximal end, and distal end, and a transition section between the proximal and distal ends. The proximal end includes a first connector to be connected to a light source and a second connector configured to be connected to a spectrometer. The distal end include a shaft including at least two first optical fibers to transmit light and at least one second optical fiber to transmit a spectroscopic signal. The transition section can couple the first connector to the at least two first optical fibers, and to couple the second connector to the at least one second optical fiber.

Abstract: A forceps having a first jaw and a second jaw, where at least one of the first and second jaws is capable of moving between an open position and a closed positions. The forceps including an inner shaft located within an outer shaft and extending along the longitudinal axis, and a drive bar coupled to and extending distally from the inner shaft. The drive bar including a pair of drive bar struts extending from a distal portion of the inner shaft and positioned laterally inward of at least one of first and second set of flanges of the first and second jaws. A drive pin is securable to the pair of drive bar struts and the drive bar is translatable within the outer shaft to translate the drive pin to move the first jaw and/or the second jaw between open and closed positions.

Abstract: A tool for use by a surgeon for operating a basket device for capturing an object to be removed from a body of an animal. The tool includes a first controller and a second controller. The first controller is adapted to be coupled to the basket device for selectively controlling the basket device and moving the basket device between a first, closed position and a second, open position. Abstract: A sheath includes a sheath body, an inflow port at a proximal end of the sheath body, an outflow port at the proximal end of the sheath body, and a plurality of radially expandable flexible members which extend along a length of the sheath body. The plurality of radially expandable flexible members are attached to the sheath body at a plurality of anchor points along the length of the sheath body. The plurality of radially expandable flexible members expand during active fluid inflow. Abstract: A stone retrieval device includes a sheath and a stone retrieval basket that includes a distal region with a plurality of basket wires and a proximal region with one or more core wires. The stone retrieval basket is contained within the sheath and is movable out a distal opening of the sheath to cause the plurality of basket wires to open into a basket shape. The stone retrieval device further includes a lock mechanism that locks the position of the stone retrieval basket with respect to the position of the sheath and a basket force controller that includes a first control stage and a second control stage.
