    Abstract: PURPOSE: To enable accurate and reliable inspection by repeatedly reading the height of a toothed surface passing below a read point, discriminating time intervals between passing feature points, and comparing them with logical geometrical parameters which are inputted to a processor. CONSTITUTION: An annular sleeve 2 which has a toothed internal surface 2a is fitted operationally to the peripheries of 5 and 6 which can operate freely to rotate so that the sleeve 2 moves across the extension part of the teeth 3. A read member 15 which can move freely in parallel to the rollers 5 and 6 detects the transversal contours of individual teeth 3 by repeatedly reading the height of the toothed surface 2a passing below the given read point and compares them with the geometrical parameters stored in the processor 20.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To inhibit the hydrogenation catalyst action of a photoinitiator or activator, by choosing a photoinitiator or activator from the group consisting of activators or photoinitiators which cause a reduction in the hydrogen- absorption capacity in a H2 -absorbing buffer which is in contact with a polyacrylate containing them in an air atmosphere saturated with water vapor. CONSTITUTION: An optical fiber element contains at least one layer comprising a coating consisting of a polyacrylate reticulated by at least one H2 -absorbing buffer or ultraviolet irradiation, wherein the above-mentioned polyacrylate contains at least one ultraviolet-irradiated photoinitiator and, if possible, an activator therefor. This photoinitiator and, if there is any, an activator is chosen from the group consisting of activators or photoinitiators which cause a reduction in the hydrogen-absorption capacity of less than 30% in a H2 -absorbing buffer which is in contact with the above-mentioned polyacrylate containing them for 30 days at 100 deg.C in an air atmosphere saturated with water vapor at 150 mbar.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an optical fiber element made of a polyolefin material by which a hydrogenated catalyst is not adversely affected. CONSTITUTION: This optical fiber element has an optical fiber housing. The optical fiber housing is formed of the polyolefin material, having additives to protect the polyolefin material from the deterioration occurring in oxidation, heat or the approach of metals. The optical fiber element includes an H2 absorption buffer. The additives described above are selected from a group consisting of an antioxidant, stabilizer and metal inactivating agent. The additives lower the hydrogen absorptivity of the H2 absorption buffer, at a value smaller than 30%, when the H2 absorption buffer comes into contact with the polyolefin contg. the additives for 30 days at 100 deg.C, in an air atmosphere satd. with a steam of 150 millibar.

CONSTITUTION: A vulcanization press 1 is essentially consisting of a bed 2, a lower holding mold or holder 3, and an upper counter-mold 13. The lower holder 3 is provided with a mold 5a accommodated in the bed 2, a guide column 21 disposed beside the mold 5a, a handling arm 15 fitted with the guide column 21, and a cover 14 fixed at the lower side of the handling arm 15. There is provided with a second mold having a second lower holder 28 and an upper counter-mold 30. There is then provided a second cover 29 which engages with the second upper counter-mold 30. There is then provided engaging means such as a latch 27 which removably engages the handling arm 15 selectively with each of the first and the second covers 14, 29.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a tread capable of reducing the rolling noise of a tire without deteriorating its driving characteristic. CONSTITUTION: This tread has a plurality of wedges 5, 6 formed with two shoulder rows arranged with circumferential grooves 3 and transverse grooves 4 in the peripheral direction and some central rows 6 located between the shoulder rows. The wedges 5, 6 are provided with one or more linear auxiliary slits 12 inclined with respect to the direction perpendicular to rotating direction of a tire 2. The auxiliary slits 11, 12 of the wedges 5, 6 forming the shoulder rows 5 and the central rows 6 are made parallel to each other. The slips 12 of the central rows 6 have an inclination, with respect to the direction perpendicular to the rotating direction, that is greater than the inclination of the slips 11 of the wedges 5 of the shoulder rows 5. The rolling noise of the tire 2 is sufficiently reduced by the technical constitution employed for coincidentally arranging the auxiliary slits 11, 12.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a method for manufacturing a strip of a conglomerate of a compound and anti-skid granules suitable for forming a tread strip for a tire with improved characteristics of adherence to a road surface covered with ice or snow. CONSTITUTION: Individual granules, already pre-treated with adhesive, are coated with uncured compound until the thickness of a rubber coat reaches a value lower than 0.2 mm, the coated granules are then poured into a mixer for incorporation in the compound of the tire tread, after forming a so-called bench and attainment of a temperature of at least 60 deg.C (but not, above 80 deg.C). A mixing operation is then continued until the compound is obtained with a uniform distribution of the granules. The compound is then extruded or profiled as a continuous strip suitable for constituting a tire tread or for being inserted into a cavity of a tread profile together with which it will be subsequently be cured.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a mold for vulcanizing an unvulcanized tire without forming a flash or a bubble by applying to various tread patterns. CONSTITUTION: In a metallic mold, all or a part of an annular portion for molding at least a tread of a tire is formed by a plurality of small separate pieces which can be combined to form the annular portion. Between these small pieces, during the molding of the tire, clearances are maintained so as to permit the passage of air but not the passage of rubber. The above clearances are connected via vent holes 21, 23b to air suction means. Such vent holes 21, 23b are also connected with means for blowing pressure fluid via the clearances. A construction of this mold by means of small pieces made with cuts of the portions in the axial and the circumferential direction permits regulation of the width of the clearances with respect to the rheometric characteristics of the elastometic material to be molded and to adapt easily the mold to different tire sizes by increasing or decreasing the number of such pieces.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To reduce noise by setting the length of an active fiber to be one which is directly equivalent to the partial absorption of in put pumping light and containing a selection mirror element, in which light is reflected by a pumping wavelength and light is transmitted by a communication wavelength for the downstream of the active fiber. CONSTITUTION: A dichroic coupler 2, a pumping laser 3, and the active fiber 6 are contained, and a selective (or dichroic) mirror element 8 is provided on the downstream of the active fiber 6. A pumping wavelength (p) is reflected, and a communication wavelength (p) is made to pass through without changing it. A communication fiber 7 connected to the output of the mirror element 8 transports an amplified signal and makes communication with a target place. Noise which is guided to a communication line from an amplifier is decreased, and the quality in communication signal is improved.
