Abstract: A display device, a driving method thereof, and a global image detecting method are provided to improve image quality of moving pictures by suppressing motion blur in a displayed image. A display device includes a motion estimator(133), a compensation controller(131), a compensator(137), and a display panel. The motion estimator estimates a motion in an n-th frame during a frame period by using a received n-th frame and a pevious frame. The compensation controller determines a type of the moving picture in the n-th frame based on the estimated motion. The compensator adaptively generates an n-th compensation frame based on the determined type of the moving picture. The display panel displays the n-th frame and the n-th compensation frame during the frame period.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to prevent blur on a displayed image by displaying an impulsive image on one sub-pixel and a regular image on the other sub-pixels. A liquid crystal display device includes plural gate lines(GLa,GLb), plural data lines(DL), plural pixels(PX), a gate driver, and a data driver. The gate lines deliver a gate-on voltage. The data lines deliver first and second regular image data voltages and an impulsive data voltage. The pixels are connected to the gate and data lines and include first and second sub-pixel electrodes. The gate driver is connected to the gate lines and applies the gate-on voltage. The data driver is connected to the data lines and applies the first and second regular image data voltages and the impulse data voltage. The first and second regular image data voltages are different from each other and obtained from single image information. The impulse data voltage is applied on one of the first and second sub-pixel electrodes.
