컬러휠, 이를 채용한 조명유닛, 및 컬러휠을 채용한 2D/3D 겸용 영상표시장치가 개시되어 있다. 개시된 컬러휠은 투과되는 단색광의 조합으로 제1컬러를 표시할 수 있는 적어도 3개의 컬러필터를 구비한 제1컬러필터그룹과, 투과되는 단색광의 조합으로 제2컬러를 표시할 수 있는 적어도 3개의 컬러필터를 구비한 제2컬러필터그룹으로 나뉘어지는 적어도 6개의 컬러필터가 원주상에 연이어져 배열되어 디스크 형상을 이루며, 적어도 6개의 컬러필터를 통과하는 단색광들은 서로 다른 파장대역을 갖는 것을 특징으로 한다. 이러한 컬러휠을 채용한 영상표시장치는, 제1컬러를 통과시키는 좌안경과 제2컬러를 통과시키는 우안경을 갖는 안경을 이용하여, 종래의 2D 영상표시장치의 광학적 구조를 크게 변경하지 않더라도 3D 영상을 보여줄 수 있다.

PURPOSE: A multi view image display device is provided to set resolution balance without interference. CONSTITUTION: A multi view image display device a backlight unit(110), a mask unit(120), an image panel(130), and a parallax unit(140). The image panel includes a plurality of pixels arranged to a plurality of columns and rows. The backlight unit supplies light as the image panel. The parallax unit is arranged in the front side of the image panel. The mask unit performs partially a masking operation for each a plurality of pixels by arrangement in between the image panel and the backlight unit.

PURPOSE: A backlight unit and a display device using the same are provided to accurately control an optical pattern. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal panel(1) electrically controls a liquid crystal grating. The liquid crystal panel forms a desired optical pattern by light incident from a light source. The liquid crystal panel comprises a first substrate(60), a second substrate(10), a liquid crystal layer(30), and a transparent film(40). The transparent film has a refractive index. The refractive index corresponds to at least one of a normal refractive index and an abnormal refractive index of a liquid crystal of the liquid crystal layer.

PURPOSE: A cubic image projection system, which converts 2D into 3D by using a simple structure, is provided to make the improved image without a special screen by using a 2D projector. CONSTITUTION: A cubic image projection system comprises a beam projector(1200), a cubic image adapter(1400), and a shutter control section(1600). The beam projector projects a left-eye image and a right eye image of the side-by-side format. The cubic image adapter projects the left-eye image and right eye image on a screen in a time sequence difference product overlapping mode.

A 3 dimensional image display is provided to improve the contrast ratio by placing a polarizer at the edge area. A first polarizer(12) transmits the light of the first polarized light among the light coming out in the light source(10). A liquid crystal panel(13) forms an image by controlling light transmission rate by the inputted signal. A lenticular lens array(15) separates the viewing zone cultivated by the liquid crystal panel of image. A second polarized light device(18) is arranged at the next to the lens array, transmits and a first polarizing light, and absorbs the light which is income in outside.

Liquid crystal shutter glasses and a liquid crystal shutter control method are provided to reduce a cross-talk because the liquid crystal shutter glasses and a stereoscopic image display device are not perfectly synchronized. Liquid crystal shutter glasses include a left-eye shutter(422) and a right-eye shutter(423). The left-eye shutter is opened and closed according to lines so that only a left-eye image of a stereoscopic image is visible. The right-eye shutter is opened and closed according to lines so that only a right-eye image of the stereoscopic image is visible. The left-eye shutter and the right-eye shutter are synchronized to a boundary of the left-eye image and the right-eye image and are successively opened and closed.

A complete parallax stereoscopic image display device capable of switching 2D/3D images is provided to widen a visual field for the 3D image by forming apertures at every two or four pixels and to display an image with a complete parallax by generating both horizontal and vertical parallaxes at the same time. A complete parallax stereoscopic image display device capable of switching 2D/3D images includes a display element(10) supplying an image and a parallax barrier unit for switching 2D and 3D modes by relatively moving two polarization grating screens(11,12) facing each other. The parallax barrier unit provides a complete parallax having both horizontal and vertical parallaxes by transmitting the light through the entire region in the 2D mode and transmitting the light only through plural apertures two-dimensionally arranged in a barrier at regular intervals, in the 3D mode.

A multi-channel video system is provided to allow a plurality of viewers to respectively watch different images in full sizes at the same time using a single video system. A multi-channel video system(30) includes a mode selector(31), a source selector(32), a conversion unit(33), a display unit(34), and a glass set. The mode selector selects one of a general 2D mode, a multi-channel 2D mode and a 3D mode. The source selector provides an image of at least one channel according to a user's choice. The conversion unit interlaces two images provided by the source selector in the case of the multi-channel 2D mode or 3D mode. The display unit makes the alternate two images have polarized components perpendicular to each other. The glass set includes 3D polarization glasses for respectively providing two images displayed in the 3D mode to the left and right eyes of a user, and multi-channel glasses for providing one of two images displayed in the multi-channel 2D mode to the user.

A multichannel imaging system is provided to allow a plurality of viewers to respectively watch full-size images of different channels using a single imaging system at the same time. A multichannel imaging system includes an imaging unit(30) and at least one directional speaker(31). The imaging unit simultaneously divides multichannel images and provides the divided images to different time domains. The directional speaker transmits sounds only to one time domain corresponding thereto. The imaging unit includes a display panel for alternately displaying multichannel images pixel by pixel in the horizontal or vertical direction, and a multichannel screen located in front of the display panel. The multichannel screen divides the multichannel images displayed on the display panel and provides the divided multichannel images to different time domains. The multichannel screen is a parallax barrier or a lenticular lens.
