Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus and a method for biologically denitrifying wastewater using elemental sulfur, wherein the apparatus and the method increase mass transfer ratio of nitrates from bulk liquid to microorganisms so that backflow of water or air is not necessary, high denitrification efficiency is obtained at high load ratio, additional facilities related with backflow are not necessary, and alkalinity is easily imparted to wastewater. CONSTITUTION: In a biological denitrification apparatus using fluidized-bed reactor filled with elemental sulfur, the biological denitrification apparatus comprises a biological denitrification reactor(10) which is filled with particles of elemental sulfur, and on a lower part of which a wastewater inflow port(13) is installed; a treated water sedimentation basin(20) disposed above the biological denitrification reactor; a treated water recirculation line(30) for connecting the treated water sedimentation basin with the wastewater inflow port of the biological denitrification reactor; and a recirculation pump(40) installed at one end of the treated water recirculation line, wherein the treated water sedimentation basin has diameter that is twice larger than that of the biological denitrification reactor, wherein the biological denitrification apparatus further comprises a "T" character shaped sedimentation basin(50) installed at one end of the treated water recirculation line, wherein the biological denitrification reactor is filled with a mixture of elemental sulfur and alkalinity-providing agent, and wherein the biological denitrification apparatus further comprises an additional column installed at one end of the recirculation line and filled with alkalinity-providing agent.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for detecting leaked oil are provided to rapidly and widely detect the leakage of oil by measuring density of oily material contained in soil gas in real time. CONSTITUTION: An oil leakage detecting apparatus includes a gas conveying pipe(13) and an ultraviolet detector(11). An oil reservoir(14) is installed in a basement. At least two gas conveying pipes(13) are installed around the oil reservoir(14). The gas conveying pipes(13) are connected to the ultraviolet detector(11). A gas suction pump(12) is mounted on the gas conveying pipes(13). When oil is leaked from the oil reservoir(14), volatile component of oil is introduced into the gas conveying pipes(13) installed around the oil reservoir(14). Soil gas introduced through the gas conveying pipes(13) passes through a sample cell of the ultraviolet detector(11).
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A sludge reduction and recycle system using ozone which can reduce the producing amount of sludge by decomposing and solubilizing sludge with ozone treatment is provided. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises an ozone generator which generates ozone gas for treating sludge; an ozone treatment tank(22) which has an ozone contact equipment that makes sludge comes into contact with ozone gas; a thickener(23) which settles sludge after concentration; and a dehydrator(24) which dehydrates settled sludge.
