    Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for synchronizing a digital symbol are provided to obtain the resolution of a narrower interval than an interval of sampling frequencies by using only one A/D converter. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for synchronizing a digital symbol includes an A/D conversion portion(100), a symbol timing calculation portion(200), a timing decision portion(300), and an A/D clock supply portion(400). The A/D conversion portion performs an oversampling process for a received analog signal to a digital signal according to a clock. The symbol timing calculation portion calculates a symbol timing value from the oversampled signal in a sample interval. The timing decision portion decides the symbol timing from the symbol timing value. The A/D clock supply portion supplies an A/D clock to the A/D conversion portion according to the symbol timing information.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: A device for tracking a position of a mobile terminal and a method therefor are provided to vertically beam-form a beam forming antenna from distance and azimuth positions, and to measure up to an altitude angle of the mobile terminal, then to update distance, azimuth, and the altitude angle at certain time intervals, thereby exactly obtaining a 3-dimensional position of the mobile terminal. CONSTITUTION: A beamforming antenna(10) receives a signal from a mobile terminal. A distance measurer(110) measures distance between a wireless base station and the mobile terminal from the received signal. An azimuth measurer(130) measures an azimuth of the mobile terminal for the wireless base station through a beamforming scanning process in horizontal direction of the beamforming antenna(10). An altitude angle measurer(140) measures an altitude angle of the mobile terminal through a beamforming scanning process in vertical direction. A position determiner(150) operates the signals outputted from the azimuth measurer(130) and the altitude angle measurer(140), and determines a position of the mobile terminal, then updates the mobile terminal.
