Abstract: PURPOSE: A gain-clamped optical amplifier is provided to realize a regular gain character without regard to a change in strength of input signal light. CONSTITUTION: An optical fiber bragg grating(12) is installed at an input optical fiber(11). An isolator(14) is installed at an output optical fiber(13). An optical amplifier(15) is placed between the optical fiber bragg grating(12) and the isolator(14) for amplifying an input optical signal or output optical signal. A spontaneously emitted light of the optical amplifier(15) emitted to the input optical fiber(11) and the output optical fiber(13) is reflected to the optical amplifier(15) for amplifying the reflected light.

Abstract: A wavelength selector to be used in WDM networks is provided. The wavelength selector is composed of a circulator, an arrayed waveguide grating (AWG), which is used for wavelength demultiplexing and multiplexing part, and an electro-optical (EO) switching part. The input light after the circulator is demultiplexed through the AWG part and each channel of the demultiplexed lights is modulated and reflected through the EO switching part which is formed as Michelson type interferometer with mirror parts returning the light to the AWG. The modulated and reflected light is multiplexed through the AWG and the direction is changed to the output through the circulator.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a multi-channel wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer capable of efficiently coupling or separating wavelength multiplexed optical signals. The multi-channel wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer according to the present invention comprises a band splitting means for splitting the band of wavelength multiplexed optical signals (lambd1~lambdn) into M bands, a demultiplexing means for separating each band split by the band splitting means into a plurality of single wavelength channels, and a multiplexing means for coupling the single wavelength channels separated by the demultiplexing means. Therefore, the present invention can significantly increase the number of available wavelength channels while minimizing optical loss of wavelength channels.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus for measuring an eye pattern of a very high speed optical signal by a time-wavelength conversion is provided to convert a time waveform with an input optical pulse into a wavelength domain using a linear chirping super-succession optical source and a non-linear interferometer and measure the eye pattern. CONSTITUTION: A super-succession optical source unit(310) generates a linear chirping super-succession optical source. A non-linear interference unit(320) generates a non-linear interference about the super-succession optical source generated by the super-succession optical source unit(310) according to an inputted optical pulse(340). An optical wavelength analyzing unit(330) analyzes an optical wavelength using the result of the non-linear interference about the super-succession optical source and measures an eye pattern.

Abstract: 본 발명은 파장 분할 다중 대용량 광통신에 있어서 여러 파장의 신호를 동시에 분리하는데 응용이 가능하고, 또한 집적화 할 수 있는 다파장 투과형 광 필터에 관한 것이다. 제안된 필터의 구조는 한 개의 사냑 루프(Sagnac loop)와 루프 안의 대칭적인 위치에 반사 파장이 서로 다른 여러 쌍의 브레그(Bragg) 격자들이 자리하고 있으며, 루프의 정 중앙에 위치한 격자는 한 개의 격자로 되어 있다. 이 구조는 여러 파장 채널을 동시에 투과시키면서도 선택하고자 하는 파장 채널의 증가에 따른 신호 광의 강도 감소가 없는 특징을 갖는다. 사냑 루프(Sagnac loop)에서 서로 반대로 진행한 광 신호의 위상을 조절하기 위해 루프 안에 열팽창 또는 인장 및 수축 기능이 추가되었다. 본 발명은 여러 파장을 사용하는 파장 분할 다중 광통신에 있어서 광원의 주파수 안정화(frequency stabilization)와 광 네트워크에서 다파장 채널 분리 소자 등으로 응용될 수 있다.
