Abstract: 본 발명은 장면 전환 검출 기술에 관한 것으로, 디지털 영상기기에서 사용되는 디지털 비디오 데이터를 복호화하여 하나의 코덱 또는 압축되지 않은 데이터로 통일하고, 복호화된 디지털 비디오 데이터에 대한 정규화를 수행하여 정규화된 프레임에서 장면 전환 여부를 검출한다. 이러한 장면 전환 여부 검출을 위해 정규화된 프레임에 대한 최적 모드를 결정하여 결정된 최적 모드들로 장면 전환을 검출하기 위한 비율을 계산하고, 계산된 모드 비율에 발생할 수 있는 오류 제거 후 해당 프레임에 대한 장면 전환 여부를 검출하는 것을 특징으로 한다. 본 발명에 의하면, 디지털 비디오의 공간적 및 시간적 중복성을 이용하여 디지털 비디오의 장면 전환 검출 성능을 향상시킬 수 있으며, 비디오에 따라 발생할 수 있는 다양한 국부적인 오류에 대해서도 유연하게 대처할 수 있다. 또한 장면 전환 검출 시스템의 특징 및 디지털 비디오의 성격에 따라 장면 전환 검출 장치를 결정하여 보다 나은 장면 전환 검출율을 제공할 수 있다.
