    Abstract: PURPOSE: A heat treatment method of boron alloy steel for gears is provided to obtain superior fatigue strength and impact performance of final alloy steel product and improve quality homogeneity of the product by improving preprocessing heat treatment to be performed on Cr steel in which boron is not contained after hot forging process. CONSTITUTION: In a gear manufacturing method comprising the processes of hot forging an alloy steel workpiece comprising 0.20 wt.% of C, 0.10 wt.% of Si, 0.70 wt.% of Mn, 0.01 wt.% of P, 0.01 wt.% of S, 1.05 wt.% of Cr, 0.025 wt.% of Nb, 20 ppm of B and a balance of Fe; air cooling or naturally cooling the hot forged alloy steel workpiece; performing preprocessing heat treatment on the cooled alloy steel workpiece; processing the heat treated alloy steel workpiece; and carburizing the processed alloy steel workpiece, the heat treatment method of boron alloy steel for gears is characterized in that the preprocessing heat treatment process comprises the steps of heating the cooled alloy steel workpiece at temperature of 920 deg.C for 2 to 4 hours; maintaining reheating of the air cooled alloy steel workpiece at the temperature of 650 to 750 deg.C for 2 to 3 hours after air cooling the heated alloy steel workpiece to a temperature of 650 to 750 deg.C in a cooling rate of about 2 deg.C/sec; and air cooling the reheated alloy steel workpiece to an ordinary temperature in a cooling rate of about 2 deg.C/sec.
