    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible polyurethane foam which has a high water absorption capacity equal to or higher than that of a polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) foam, scarcely damages objects being cleaned because of its softnes and elasticity, and can be produced in a one-shot process without needing steps such as of fabrication and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This flexible polyurethane foam is produced by foaming a mixture comprising a polyol, a polyisocyanate, a blowing agent, etc., and the cell skeleton of the foam is formed so that minute holes with diameters lower than 20 μm are uniformly distributed on the surface of the cell skeleton. Preferably, the diameters of minute holes uniformly distributed on the surface of the cell skeleton are 0.9 μm (900 nm) or higher.
