Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a new DNA probe useful for readily and rapidly carrying out the DNA test in a small-sized apparatus. CONSTITUTION:A DNA can be detected with a high sensitivity by a DNA probe having a hydrophilic DNA site containing a saccharide, phosphoric acid and a base and a hydrophobic site which is an 8-30C fatty acid, an alcohol, an aldehyde, an amine or a hydrocarbon or a derivative thereof. This probe is obtained by binding a linker such as a beta-amine linker to the 5'-terminal of an oligonucleotide and then binding the hydrophobic site having a group reactive with the linker thereto, etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a miniature lightweight equipment by transferring a region changed in permeability of a medium in the inside of a housing part by a means which locally controls the substance permeability of a nonfluidic medium in the inside of the housing part. CONSTITUTION:A nonfluidic medium 1 is closely packed in a state wherein granular high polymer gel absorbs liquid and is swelled. A permeability controlling means 2 of the nonfluidic medium exerts the permeability controlling action 4 which locally increases the substance permeability of the medium on the nonfluidic medium. This permeability controlling means is transferred along the nonfluidic medium by a transferring means. When the substance 3 to be transferred is allowed to exist in the nonfluidic medium of this equipment and the permeability controlling means 2 is slowly transferred while it is allowed to locally act on the nonfluidic medium, the substance 3 to be transferred is transferred in the direction of transfer of the means 2, namely in the same direction as the region wherein the permeability of the medium is changed. When the direction for transfer of a permeability change region is reversed, the direction for transfer of the substance to be transferred is reversed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance a response speed, sensitivity, reversibility, processability, economical efficiency and durability by employing a gel as a receiving part changing in its acoustic characteristic corresponding to a change in the concn. of a salt. CONSTITUTION:The gel 5 formed and bonded to the inner wall of a measuring container 1 is formed by copolymerizing several % of acrylic acid or acrylamine according to the measuring range of the concn. of the salt in the solution 2 to be measured. When the solution 2 is injected in the container 1, the gel 5 generates phase transition in proportion to the concn. of the salt as shown by drawings (a) - (d) and the concn. and density of the polymer in the gel become high and, noticing the reflectivity of an ultrasonic wave, the acoustic impedance IM of the gel 5 also becomes large. At this time, when the IM of the solution is regarded to be constant because of little change quantity, the IM of the gel 5 and that of the solution are almost equal in the state of the drawing (a) and, therefore, reflectivity is equal to zero but, as the gel 5 generates phase transition, the difference in IM becomes large and the reflectivity increases. Therefore, when this reflectivity is measured by an ultrasonic detector 3, the concn. of the salt in the solution can be detected.

CONSTITUTION:A phenomenon wherein a gel generating phase transition by a pH change changes in its reflectivity or transmissivity to sonic waves before and after phase transition is utilized. That is, the gel 5 is bonded and formed to the inner wall of a measuring container 1 as shown by a drawing (a) and, when solutions 2 to be measured different in pH flow in the container 1, the gel 5 generates phase transition as shown by drawings (b) - (d) and the concn. and density of the polymer in the gel 5 become high and sonic velocity and the acoustic impedance IM of the gel 5 also increase. Since the IM of the gel 5 and that of the solution are almost equal in the state of the drawing (a), reflectivity is equal to zero but, since the difference between the IM of the gel 5 and that of the solution 2 becomes large as the gel 5 generates phase transition, reflectivity becomes large. When this difference in reflectivity is measured by an ultrasonic detector 3, the pH of the solution 2 can be detected.

An additive for preventing polymerization outside the small bubbles (e.g., potassium ferrocyanide) is added thereto and the polymer precursor in the small bubbles is selectively polymerized pref. by irradiation with a radiation.

CONSTITUTION:A conductive polymer layer 2 of an aromatic group oxide polymer is formed on one face of an ion dissociation cross-linkaged polymer film 1 comprising carboxyl group in the molecular structure. An electrode 3 and a protecting layer 4 are further laminated and a bending component to bend in response to the electric power is formed. The structure not of inorganic but of the required organic polymer forms the bending component that is small in its specific gravity, flexible and easily controllable at the high drive response speed.

CONSTITUTION:A polypyrol film formed by doping chlorine ion through electrolytic polymerization of pyrol under the presence of chlorine ion is formed on the surface of a platinum film to form an electrode 1. A mixture film of polystyrene sulfonic acid and polypyrol through electrolytic polymerization of pyrol under the presence of polystyrene sulfonic acid potassium having a molecular weight of approximate 70,000 is formed on the surface of a platinum film to form an electrode 2. The electrodes 1 and 2 and a mechanochemical material 3 are immersed in an electrolyte 4 to form an actuator. This constitution enables prevention of the generation of gas due to chemical reaction between the electrodes 1 and 2 and sealing of the actuator, resulting in the possibility to eliminate a limit related to working environment.
