Abstract: PURPOSE:To record an image increased in the faithfulness of the response to a recording signal and high in resolving power and quality at a high speed in a liquid jet recording apparatus, by providing an opening separate from an emitting port on a liquid flowline. CONSTITUTION:An opening 119 separate from an orifice 108 is provided in order to prevent the non-stabilization in the emission of a liquid from the orifice caused by such a state that air bubbles are stayed in the deep part (in the vicinity of a front wall plate 103) of a liquid flowline 118 during ink filling and achieves an auxiliary function for venting a part of air present in the liquid flowline during ink filling and not venting only from the orifice 108. The liquid flowline between the orifice 108 and the opening 119 efficiently performs the emission of the liquid from the orifice 108 and, in order to prevent the emission of the liquid from the opening 119 when heat energy is imparted to the liquid from the heat acting surface 115, the shape of a partition wall 117 may be determined so as to make the liquid flowline narrow. One or more of the opening 119 is usually provided to the deepest part of the liquid flowline, that is, in close vicinity of the front wall plate 103 and the diameter thereof is pref. made smaller than that of the orifice 108.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to record an image having excellent faithfulness and certainly in the response to a recording signal and high in resolving power and quality at a high speed, by arranging a partition wall so as to satisfy a specific relation formula when the min. value of the distance between heat acting surfaces measured without piercing the partition wall is set to Lmi and the distance of each heat acting surface and the center of an emitting port corresponding thereto is set to Doh. CONSTITUTION:A current is supplied to a heat generating resistance layer 111 through a selection electrode 112 and a common electrode 114 and heat energy is mainly generated in the heat generating part 16 between the electrodes. Bubbles are generated in a liquid by the heat action in the heat acting surface 115 and the liquid is emitted from an orifice as liquid droplets in a scattered form by the pressure energy of said bubbles to perform recording. An electricity to heat converting element 102 is driven according to a recording signal and signal voltage is supplied in order to emit the liquid droplets from the predetermined orifice 108 through the selected selection electrode 112 and the common electrode 114. When the length of a partition wall 117 is short to such an extent that it does not reach the range shown by the formula, interference action of liquid emission is generated between adjacent orifices and, when the length of said partition wall 117 is long enough to exceed a specific range, following characteristics under high frequency becomes inferior.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable image display with high resolution by providing heating elements for heating a part of the core layer in an optical waveguide and generating vapor bubble in the liquid in the core layer. CONSTITUTION:If a switch 5b for heating electrically the heating resistor 4b among heating resistors 4a, 4b... provided like a dotted line is turned on, the part of a clad layer 2 and a part of a core layer 1 are thermally conducted and heated to boil, and a bubble 6 is formed in the layer 1. Light is refracted on the surface of the bubble 6 and is thus scattered. As a result, the course of the light, which arrives at the bubble 6, of light 7, is disturbed and since the condition of total reflection is consequently broken, a part of the light arriving at the bubble 6 passes the layer 3 and emerges to the outside of the optical element as exit light 8. An observer 12 senses visually the light 8 as if said light is emitted from the resistor 4b.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make a device compact, and also, to simplify the wiring by constituting so that a laser light is made incient into an optical medium for propagating a longitudinal wave of an ultrasonic wave, irradiating an original by curving said laser light by the longitudinal wave of the ultrasonic wave in said optical medium, and photodetecting reflected light from the original by a photoelectric converting element. CONSTITUTION:A laser light source 32 is placed on the end face of an optical medium 35 provided with an electrode on both ends, and a laser light emitted from its laser light source 32 is curved in the direction of an original 31 by a longitudinal wave 36 of an ultrasonic wave. Said curved laser light is reflected to the optical medium by a light intensity corresponding to a reflection factor (density) of the original 31. Subsequently, its reflected laser light is curved by the longitudinal wave 36 of the ultrasonic wave again, and made incident to a photoelectric converting element 33 provided on the end face of the optical medium 35, by which said reflected light is converted to an electric signal. Scanning of the direction (usually, a right angle direction) crossing the direction of the optical medium 35 is executed by moving a read system consisting of the original 31 or the optical medium 35, the laser light source 32 and the photoelectric onverting element 33, in said direction.
