Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent intake air temperature from going up too high when ambient temperature is high and from going down too low when the ambient temperature is low by providing a directional control adjustment valve respectively on each of inlets a first by-pass line by-passing a compressor, an expander and an inter-cooler and a second by-pass line by-passing the intercooler. CONSTITUTION:An air intake compressor 13 and an expander 14 are arranged between a supercharging compressor 11 and a diesel engine 10, and an inter- cooler 15 is arranged between the air intake compressor 13 and the expander 14. Thereafter, a first directional control valve 17 to adjust air capacity passing a first by-pass line 16 by-passing the air intake compressor 13, the expander 14 and the inter-cooler 15 and a second directional control valve 19 to adjust air capacity passing a second by-pass line 18 by-passing the inter-cooler 15 are provided. Hereby, rotation speed of the diesel engine 10 and a load are detected, and the first directional control adjustment valve 17 and the second directional control adjustment valve 19 are controlled.

Abstract: PURPOSE:In a mechanism which is provided in the exhaust passage of a diesel engine, and jets air toward a particulate filter to catch a particulate matter in an exhaust for tearing off the particulate matter, and burns it for its removal, and thereby regenerate the particulate filter, to carry out the tearing off of the particulate matter on not only a spot where the air strikes against but also the whole face of the filter uniformly. CONSTITUTION:Air jetted toward the downstream side of an exhaust through a nozzle 9 is returned into a conical chamber 7 by a returning plate 15, and passes through the chamber 7 toward a particulate filter 17 on the upstream side of the exhaust in a state where the air is decelerated for heightening its static pressure. The particulate matter can be uniformly teared off by utilizing the air under its static pressure instead of dynamic pressure.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To effectively reduce soot and harmful gaseous component contained in exhaust gas by providing both a particulate filter and NOx reduction catalysts which are interposed from an upstream side to a downstream side in series in order in the direction of the flow of exhaust gas from an engine. CONSTITUTION:Reduction catalysts 15 and oxidizing catalysts 16 are located at positions apart from the filter surface of a particulate filter 12. This thereby allows both of the reduction catalysts 15 and the oxidizing catalysts 16 for NOx to be avoided from an influence of heat due to the burning of soot collected by the filter surface, so that the catalytic function is thereby maintained. As a result, NOx, HC and CO contained in exhaust gas are reduced and oxidized for the long period of time, so that exhaust gas is thereby purified.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent burning of a large volume of particulates at the time of the following regeneration of a filter by controlling the following burning process of particulates so as to be performed before schedule when the temperatures inside the filter at the time of burning the particulates are not normally distributed. CONSTITUTION:As an engine 2 is operated, particulates in exhaust air are caught by a filter 1 and gradually accumulated in the filter 1. When a computer 13 judges that it is a good time to regenerate the filter 1, a shutter valve 8a is closed and a shutter valve 8b is opened, and an electric heater 4 is energized to burn the particulates caught by the filter 1 under the introduction of air for burning by means of an air pump 7a. The temperature rise and fall in each part of the filter 1 due to the burning of the particulates are detected by temperature sensing elements A-D, and when the computer 13 judges that burning of the particulates is not normally performed, it early generates the instruction for the following regeneration of the filter 1.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible for the backwash type filter system in the title to be used in the exhaust system of an automobile by constructing the system with a scavenge chamber connected to the half way of an exhaust pipe, a dust collecting chamber connected to the inlet of the scavenge chamber, and an exhaust bypass which bypasses the scavenge chamber to be connected to the exhaust pipe. CONSTITUTION:A backwash type filter system 10 is constructed by containing a scavenge chamber 11 which is provided with a ceramic honeycomb filter 23 cleaned by a backward air flow, and connected to the half way of the exhaust pipe 43 of an engine 40, a dust collecting chamber 12 communicated with the gas inlet 27 of the scavenge chamber 11, and an exhaust bypass 13 which bypasses the scavenge chamber 11 to be connected to the exhaust pipe 43. Gas treatment quantity is sufficiently secured thereby to backwash the filter 23 effectively. And it is restrained that soot separated and collected from the filter 23 is returned to the filter 23 again. Thus, it becomes possible to backwash the filter 23 without causing any failure of the operation of the engine 40, in addition, miniaturization and weight lightening can be attempted so that the system can be loaded on an automobile.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make any abnormal situation quickly detectable by emitting a warning in the case where pressure in a fuel vessel has come off the specified range, in a device which connects each fuel injection nozzle to the common fuel vessel, where fuel is accumulated under pressure in advance, via an injection pipe. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 24 calculates a supply of optimum fuel on the basis of each output signal of a load sensor 30 and a speed detecting sensor 27. On the basis of this calculated result, fuel is sprayed to each cylinder 15 of an engine from respective unit injectors 14. In this case, pressure in a common rail 12 where fuel is accumulated under pressure in advance is detected by a pressure sensor 33, while a supply of fuel is read out of the cumulative value of a spill control pulse in a return pipe 18, and on the basis of information on these data, pressure in the common rail 12 is estimated while a proper range is calculated. Then, this proper range is compared with the actual pressure, and when the actual pressure gets out of the proper value, warning operation is performed by a warning means.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable washing of a filter within a short time with a small-sized and light-weighted device by disposing in an exhaust pipe a washing air nozzle for blowing the air from an air tank into a dust collector through an electromagnetic valve in the reversed direction to the flow of the exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION:In a filter washing device 10, a washing air nozzle 11 is disposed on the way of an exhaust pipe 31 connected to the outlet 35 of the casing 33 of a muffler 32, and its injection port is directed to the exhaust outlet of a dust collector. An air tank 12 installed to the casing 33 through an adiabatic plate 19 has the inlet 15 connected to an air compressor and the outlet 16 connected to the washing air nozzle 11. An electromagnetic valve 13 is disposed in a pipeline 17. As the air tank 12 is disposed near the washing air nozzle 11 in this way, the pipeline 17 is shortened and thinned. The electromagnetic valve 13 is also miniaturized, and the compressed air having high discharge and flow speed can be blown into the dust collector in the reversed direction.
