Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition capable of dyeing the hair in blackish brown natural color tone, having excellent fastness to sunlight and resistance to washing by combining a p-diamine with 2,4-diaminophenol or a salt thereof in a fixed molar ratio. CONSTITUTION:A p-diamine selected from p-diamine derivative shown by the formula (R1 is H, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, etc.; R2 is H, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl; R1 and R2 are H, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl; R3 and R4 are H, alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, COOH, etc.) and salts thereof is combined with 2,4-diaminophenol or a salt thereof in the molar ratio of (100:1)-(1:5) to give an air oxidation hair dyeing agent composition of one-agent type. Further addition of a specific m-diamine, phenol or naphthol to cause a coupling reaction to provide excellent color tone. Furthermore addition of direct dye gives a natural color tone having extremely high chroma.
