In at least one grading mode selected by a grading mode selecting means, the correction arithmetic processing different from other grading modes is carried out. Thereby, the grading accuracy can be prevented from unnecessarily deteriorating while preventing clogging according to the thickness of the layer of the substances to be treated in the grading mode in which a clogged state readily occurs.

In case the thickness of the layer of materials to be treated continues to be kept to a value larger than a prescribed value for a prescribed time, the capacity of the separator (B) is kept to a value more larger by the prescribed value.

When thickness of layer of the treated material becomes upper limit or above in preliminarily set range (insensitive band), chaff sieve 8 is operated on open side to increase the leak amount of the treated material. On the contrary, when thickness of layer of the treated material becomes lower limit or below of insensitive band, chaff sieve 8 is operated on the closed side to decrease the leak amount of the treated material. Thereby thickness of layer of the treated material can be kept nearly constant and stabilized sieve action performance can be maintained.

Then the slits 23a - 23d change plural kinds of combination of pieces detection information of the devices 24a - 24d as the disk 22 rotates and the length in circumferential directions where plural kinds of combination appear is so set that the combinations change every time the position shift increases or decreases by a set quantity.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To detect clogging of material to be treated between a chaff sieve and a straw rack by simple remodeling, by equipping a contact type sensor in such a state that the sensor has an action to detect thickness of a layer of material to be treated on a chaff sieve. CONSTITUTION:An oscillating and selecting plate 3 is equipped with a chaff sieve 8 which backward transports a material to be treated dropped from a receiving net 5 of a squeezing chamber A while oscillating and selecting and a straw rack 9 which backward transports the material to be treated discharged from a dust sending hole 6 at the rear of the receiving net 5 in a such a state as to position the straw rack 9 above the straw sieve 8 at an interval. A contact type sensor S to detect thickness of the layer of the material to be treated on the chaff sieve 8 is laid in such a state that the sensor detects the thickness of the layer of the material on the chaff sieve 8 corresponding to a position just before the straw rack 9. By this inexpensive and simple remodeling, clogging of the material to be treated between the chaff sieve and the straw rack can be detected.
