    Abstract: A sewing machine includes a stud carried by a journal surrounding a tubular needle bar having a lateral opening. A link connected to the journal normally drives the needle bar when the stud is engaged within the needle bar opening. A disconnecting rod within the tubular needle bar is axially displaceable and includes a ramp engageable with a control member, also within the needle bar, to drive the stud from the needle bar opening and thereby disengage the journal from the needle bar.

    Abstract: A zig-zag stitch sewing machine comprising a laterally displaceable needle, a reciprocatable carrier bar for said needle, the carrier bar having a central position and two terminal decentered positions, pivotable cradle means for the reciprocatable carrier bar, a connecting rod having first and second ends pivotally connected, at the first end, to the cradle means, a pivotable slider contactable with the second end of the rod, lever means for displacing the second end of said rod along the slider, a pivot axis for the slider, the pivot axis being displaceable, pivotable lever means carrying the pivot axis for the slider carrying feeler means, cam means contactable with said feeler means, a cam shaft for said cam means, drive means for said cam shaft, selector means for selecting a desired cam from said-cam means and means for displacing said pivot axis of said slider while the free end of the slider is immobilized in a terminal angular position whereby displacement of said second end of said connecting rod along said slider causes needle carrying bar to be displaced between said two terminal decentered positions.

    Abstract: 1278217 Mechanical switches ETABS AESUP and MEFINA SA 14 Jan 1971 [15 Jan 1970] 1914/71 Heading H1N A push-button switch comprises a body 1 containing a rotary disc 2 having on one side dog-teeth 3 co-operating with the push-button 15, and on the other side two series of recesses 4, 5, of different depths co-operating with at least one contact 22, disc 2 and body 1 having an axial passage passing through the body from one side . to the other. The switch is intended to be mounted on the end of an electric motor of small diameter with a mechanical part or fluid &c. passing through the switch. Depression of pushbutton 15 depresses push-button end 14 which moves end 13 of annular lever 7 which pivots about its axle 8 causing a pin 10, urged by spring 11 against dog-teeth 3, to rotate disc 2. Rotation of disc 2 causes recesses 4 or 5 (also in Fig. 4, not shown) to engage end 26 of plunger 24, urged against disc 2 by elastic washer 25, and if deep recess 4 engages end 26 (as shown in Fig. 2) end 26 is urged into recess 4 and movable bridging contact 22 is allowed to bridge fixed contacts 21 under the action of spring 28, if shallow recess 5 engages end 26, extension 27 on plunger 24 depresses contact 22 to break the circuit. Pushbutton 15 and washer 25 are fluid-tight. The switch may have several contacts operated simultaneously or in staggered manner.

    Abstract: A thread-tensioning device of a sewing machine comprises thread-squeezing plates between which the thread passes. A shaft applying pressure to the plates is subjected to the action of a transmission lever which is acted upon by a spring-urged ball which is moved by a control button along an arcuate path from adjacent the pivoting axis of the lever to near an end of the lever. The angle of the lever can be set to enable progressive setting of the thread tension for a constant spring pressure, or with variation of the spring pressure.

    Abstract: A sewing machine has a frame formed of a base, a column, a lower free arm having an upper working surface, an upper arm and a head. A material supporting means in the shape of a retractable shelf is connected to the base by a set of articulated parts, this shelf being displaceable in a vertical direction between an operative level in which it fits around the lower free arm at the working surface thereof, and a retracted level below the lower free arm to allow access thereto. Flaps are hinged to this shelf and can be folded against the frame to form a case therewith or can be folded down to allow access to the machine for operation thereof.
