A method for reduced overhead paging by an access point is described. The method includes assigning at least one paging identifier to at least one station. The method also includes partitioning a paging identifier space into paging identifier sets. The method further includes generating a paging message based on at least one of the paging identifier sets and the at least one paging identifier. The method additionally includes sending the paging message.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide an apparatus for wireless communications. The apparatus generally includes a processing system configured to generate a data frame based on a compressed data frame format and to include control information in at least one field of the data frame, wherein the at least one field is not specified in the compressed data frame format and an interface for outputting the data frame for transmission. Another example apparatus generally includes a processing system configured to generate a frame having a first one or more bits indicating whether the frame has a compressed format and a second one or more bits indicating which of one or more fields are absent if the frame has a compressed format and an interface for outputting the frame for transmission.

Systems, methods, and devices for discovering a wireless communications network are described herein. In some aspects, a transmitter of a station is configured to transmit a probe request. The probe request is addressed to one of a wildcard service set identifier and a service set identifier of a service set in which a relay operates. A receiver of the station is configured to receive a probe request response from the relay. The probe response comprises an identification of an access point the relay is associated with and capabilities of the relay.

In some aspects, a method (500) for configuring channel access parameters in a wireless communication system (100) includes determining (502), at an access point (104), an enhanced distributed channel access [EDCA] parameter for a first subset of stations of a plurality of stations, the first subset of stations capable of transmitting multi-user uplink transmissions. The method further includes generating (504) an information element including the EDCA parameter.
