    Abstract: Access terminals are adapted to communicate with registration servers to enable a registration server to perform timer based registrations on behalf of an access terminal. The access terminal can cease performing such timer based registrations as long as the registration server performs the registrations and may power down until event data is available for transmission or reception. When a registration server performs timer based registrations on behalf of an access terminal the registration server can periodically communicate with a network entity to conduct the timer based registrations for the access terminal. The network entity can receive a timer based registration message from a registrations server for registering an access terminal. In response to such a message the network entity can register the access terminal. Sensors and controllers may be used with some embodiments to collect and analyze data and for potentially taking action. Other aspects embodiments and features are also claimed and described.

    Abstract: Base stations may include a plurality of antenna ports adapted to communicatively couple to respective remote antenna units. A base station simulcast controller module may be coupled with each antenna port and may be adapted to transmit downlink transmissions over a plurality of remote antenna units with two or more of the remote antenna units simulcasting downlink transmissions as a simulcasting group. In response to one or more obtained network traffic parameters the base station simulcast controller module may modify the simulcasting group to include at least one different remote antenna unit. Methods operational on base station may include transmitting downlink transmissions over a plurality of remote antenna units where two or more of the remote antenna units form a simulcasting group. The simulcasting group can be modified to include at least one different remote antenna unit in response to one or more obtained network traffic parameters.

    Abstract: An RF connection matrix may include first and second carrier specific RF connection matrix modules. The first carrier specific RF connection matrix module can be adapted to route a first downlink transmission to one or more remote antenna units for transmission on a first carrier. Methods for facilitating simulcasting and de simulcasting may include receiving a signal associated with a sector ID which signal includes a first downlink transmission for a first carrier and a second downlink transmission for a second carrier. The first downlink transmission can be routed to one or more remote antenna units for transmission on the first carrier. The second downlink transmission can be routed to one or more remote antenna units for transmission on the second carrier.

    Abstract: Upon successful decoding of a first set of slots of a first data packet, an Access Network (AN) can send an acknowledge message (ACK) to an Access Terminal (AT) to indicate that the AN has successfully decoded the data received in the first set of slots of the first data packet. Upon unsuccessful decoding of the first set of slots of the first data packet, the AN can send a negative acknowledge message (NAK) to the AT to indicate that the AN has not successfully decoded the data received in the first set of slots of a first data packet. Based upon receipt of the NAK, the AT can resend the data by sending a second set of slots of the first data packet containing redundant data. Based upon receipt of the ACK, the AT can send a first set of slots of another packet.

A method may encode video data, form a packet with the encoded video data, and transmit the packet across a wireless channel to an access network. A medium access control (MAC) layer may receive a negative acknowledgement (NAK) from the access network. The method may determine whether the received NAK is associated with a packet that contains video data. If the received NAK is associated with a packet that contains video data, the method may perform error control.
