An example method for wireless communication at a user equipment includes configuring a filter coefficient for a serving beam. The example method also includes applying the filter coefficient to the serving beam to determine an updated filtered measurement result. The example method also includes reporting the updated filtered measurement result to a base station.

Abstract: The apparatus may be a UE. The UE may be configured to measure, over a time interval, a plurality of instances of a signal received from a serving device (e.g., a base station or serving UE). The UE may further be configured to adjust, based on at least two previously measured instances of the signal, a sampling rate associated with the signal received from the serving device. The UE may further be configured to maintain a particular number (e.g., 2-10) of previously measured instances of the signal, where adjusting the sampling rate is based on the maintained particular number of previously measured instances. The particular number of previously measured instances of the signal may be used to calculate a gradient of the measurements to identify a sampling rate associated with the calculated gradient.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, to determine a mobility status of a user equipment (UE), the UE may perform filtering or post-processing on one or more beam metrics. The UE may generate first order statistics for the beam metrics, and may use the first order statistics to generate second order statistics. Based on whether the second order statistics for the beam metrics converge, based on whether a detected beam metric converges at zero or a non-zero value, or any combination thereof, the UE may determine a mobility status for the UE. The UE may select appropriate beam management parameter values based on the determined mobility status.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for mitigation of blockages in wireless signals between wireless devices. A UE may detect that a blockage is present (e.g., a hand blockage), such as by detecting that a received signal strength from a transmitting device (e.g., a base station or access network entity) has dropped by greater than a threshold value. Based on the blockage detection, the UE may measure an amplitude of one or more reference signals at one or more antenna elements of multiple antenna elements. The UE may also measure one or more reference signals for one or more phase shifter values that are applied to the multiple antenna elements. The UE may determine a set of amplitude weightings, and a set of phase weightings, for the multiple antenna elements based on the measuring, and apply the sets of weightings for communications with the transmitting device.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a user equipment (UE) configured to schedule resource management procedures including measurements and tracking loop procedures. In some examples, the UE includes at least one antenna pair and two or more receivers. The UE may be configured to determine a plurality of combinations of antenna pairs and component carriers, where each component carrier is associated with a particular frequency. The UE may further be configured to schedule measurements/tracking loop procedures to available receivers first and utilize a selection algorithm to select combinations of antenna pairs and component carriers and map the selected combinations to the remaining of the available receivers to perform tracking loop procedures. Other aspects, features, and embodiments are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Method and apparatus are provided for generating and reporting actual UL transmission power. In accordance with some implementation, a UE sends a first indication of power headroom to a base station. The UE may, from the base station, one or more resources allocation for a UL transmission. UE then may determine actual transmission power to be used in the UL transmission. Upon determination, the UE may the UL transmission based on the determination and send an indication of the actual transmission power to the base station.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A communication device, such as a user equipment (UE) and a base station, for example, an eNodeB (eNB), a next-generation NodeB or a giga-NodeB (either of which may be referred to as a gNB) may support techniques for transformation of analog beamforming codebooks. The communication device may modify an analog beamforming codebook based on a covariance matrix associated with interference and noise in a wireless communication system. For example, the communication device may rotate the analog beamforming codebook based on the estimated covariance matrix, or scale one or more beam weights associated with the analog beamforming codebook based on the estimated covariance matrix, or both. The communication device may thereby perform wireless communication with another communication device in the wireless communication system using the modified analog beamforming codebook.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may monitor multiple beam pair links (BPLs) including a first BPL currently used by the UE to communicate with a network node (e.g., a base station), and a second BPL. The first BPL comprises a first network beam and a first UE beam, and the second BPL comprises a second network beam and a second UE beam. The UE may decide to switch beams from using the first BPL to using the second BPL based on signaling from the network node or autonomously. When the beam switch is made, the UE switches uplink (UL) transmission from over the first UE beam to over the second UE beam. After the beam switch is made, the UE transmits in the UL over the second UE beam using UL timing adjusted based on the first and second propagation delays.

The UE perform a search procedure for a first synchronization signal block (SSB) to detect a first beam of a base station. The UE may determine a first timing offset for the first SSB based on the search procedure. The UE may estimate a second timing offset for a second SSB from the base station based on the first timing offset. The UE may perform a measurement procedure for the second SSB to detect a second beam of the base station based on the second timing offset. The UE may prune fake beams based on synchronization signals used for the measurement procedure.
