    Abstract: The absorbent article includes a belt (9,9') attached to a back (6) and front (5) portions of the absorbent article so that the article assumes a pantlike shape. The belt forms part of the waist portion of the pant and has two belt halves (9,9') that at one of their ends are permanently attached to the topsheet within bonding areas (13,13') on the insides (12,12') of the waist portion via reinforcement pieces so that the belt halves remain substantially flat along their entire length when brought against the topsheet on top of each other. The joints (14,14') that are formed at the bonding areas are pressed outwards in directions away from the user when the absorbent article is used. An Independent claim is included for a method of manufacturing the above absorbent article.

    Abstract: At least one fold (125) with a specific geometry and at least one line of weakness is provided in one or more of the absorbent layers (124). An absorbent article (101) comprises an absorbent body (104) with at least one absorbent layer enclosed in a cover with a liquid-permeable layer (102) and a liquid-impermeable layer (103). At least one fold is provided in the absorbent layer, the fold having a base line (126) extending in the plane of the layer, and a free edge (128) located at a distance from the base line. The fold length is defined between two end points (134, 135) and the fold width is defined by the distance between the base line and free edge. Maximum fold width is at a point in between the end points and this width is greater than that at either of the end points. At least one line of weakness extends in the width direction of the fold, from the free edge towards the base line.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method of producing reclosable absorbent garments, in particular absorbent pants, and to the absorbent garments obtainable by said method. Starting from a continuous web (1) of absorbent articles attached side-by-side and with a line of weakening (6) arranged between adjacent articles, a first strip (8) comprising releasably attachable material is applied across the line (6) at one edge (25) of the web. A second strip of flexible material is also applied across the line (6) at the other edge (26) of the web. The web is then folded longitudinally to form a series of closed, joined adjacent articles. The adjacent articles are then partially separated at said line (6) but without rupturing said strips (8, 13), so as to provide a free zone (15) between said strips (8, 13) and the adjacent separated edges of each article. The strips (8, 13) are then joined together across the free zone (15) to form a plurality of joined garments. The strips (8, 13) may then be severed so as to form individual garments (27) of the reclosable type, or may remain unsevered and be foreseen with a line of weakening for later separation. Due to the particular method and product features of the invention, an in-line process for making closed, reclosable absorbent garments is achieved.
