    SOLUTION: This dust meter is constituted so that the mounting flange 16a is equipped with a fixing member 31 for mounting a light projecting/receiving unit 3 on the mounting flange 16a and an adjusting screw 30 constituting an adjusting unit for the mounting the light projecting/receiving unit 3 and for optical axis alignment, and that a circular window 25 is provided on an upper part of the fixing member 31. A cylindrical part 17a is mounted on the fixing member 31, and its sectional shape is elliptic and long in the vertical direction. A space inside the cylinder upper part 17a is the cavity part 24, and the height of the upper end of the section of the cavity part 24 agrees with the height of the upper end of the circular window 25 provided on the fixing member 31.

Then, actual electrolytic water is introduced to the flow cell 10, the interference filter 3 is arranged on the optical path, a light intensity at 292 nm is measured, the transmitted-light intensity at 292 nm of a mixed electrolytic water sample is measured, the band-pass filter 4 is arranged on the optical path, and the transmitted-light intensity at 400 nm is measured.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To monitor the concn. of hypochlorouc acid in a strong acidic water by mixing a part of a strong acidic water produced in the anode side and a part of a strong alkaline water produced in the cathode side and then measuring the absorption intensity of light in a specified wavelength range of the mixture liquid. SOLUTION: Each of the discharging port 17 of a strong acidic water produced in the anode 12 side and the discharging port 18 of a strong alkaline water in the cathode 13 side is provided with a branch for measurement. A part of the strong acidic water and a part of the strong alkaline water are introduced for the measurement through valves 21, 22, respectively. The two liquids are enough mixed and homogenized and then sent to a flow cell 27 made of quartz glass. A light beam produced by an irradiation optic system comprising a light source 31 and a condensing optic system 32 is passed through the flow cell 27 and measured by a measuring optic system. The wavelength for the measurement of the absorption intensity of light substantially ranges 260 to 330 nm including a region near 292 nm which is the peak of the absorption spectrum of hypochlorous ion.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To achieve a smaller size and a lighter weight facilitating the operation, by arranging a plurality of mirrors detachable at a fixed position so that the light emitted from a spectroscope is reflected with the mirrors sequentially to be incident on a light receiving element while they can be replaced with a sample. CONSTITUTION:Luminous flux emitted for a spectroscope through an emission slit 1 is made incident on a flat mirror MR1 at 45 deg., then on a flat mirror MR3 at 60 deg. through a mirror MR2 and the reflected light thereof is made incident on a photo detector D. The flat mirrors MR1 and MR3 are made detachable and can be replaced with a sample to be measured or a reference sample. When measuring the gloss at 45 deg. in the incident and reflection angle, the flat mirror MR1 is replaced with a reference sample for measuring gloss to measure the gloss on the 100% base line and then, in place of the reference sample, a sample to be measured is set to measure the reflected light an 45 deg. in the incident and reflection angle. When measuring the gloss at 60 deg. in the incident and reflection angle, the flat mirror MR3 is replaced with the reference sample and the sample being measured, with the MR1 remaining intact.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To perform photometry with good reproducibility by using a commercial cylindrical test tube as a specimen cell and fixing the test tube by a holder consisting of an upright part and a stand of which the position is adjustable in an up-and-down direction while measuring absorbancy by an integrating sphere type photometric apparatus. CONSTITUTION:A test tube holder is constituted of an upright part 1 and a support stand 2 of which the position is adjustable in an up-and-down direction and V-shape grooves are formed to the upright part 1 and the support stand 2. A test tube T is placed on the groove of the support stand 2 to be contacted with the groove of the upright part 1 and pressed by the force of the spring 8 provided to a test tube presser 7. A light incident window 3 is provided to the upright part 1 and light is transmitted through the liquid of the test tube T from said window 3 and absorbancy is measured by an integrating sphere type photometric apparatus 1. Because the test tube is fixed by the test tube holder and absorbancy is measured by the integrating sphere type photometric apparatus, the absorbancy can be measured with good reproducibility by using an inexpensive commercial test tube.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a spectrophotometer with the minimized number of optical elements creating the shape of an optical path, by making it possible to load or unload required elements for measurement at a free position in a sample chamber with no fixed parts and constructions therein to facilitate the measurement of a sample in a desired large size according to the necessity. CONSTITUTION:A integrating sphere 4 and a sample 6 which are arranged in a sample chamber 1 can be moved to any position freely as they are merely placed at proper positions, not positioned stationarily in the sample chamber. To achieve this, the floor of the sample chamber 1 is made up of iron plate and a magnet attraction device is mounted on the undersurface of the integrating sphere 4. A sample 6 is held with a sample holder 8 which is screwed on a thread hole 10 on the top surface of a magnet stand 9. The magnet stand 9 can be lifted above the attraction surface by the operation of a lever 11 thereby holding even a sample of a substantial weight.

This equation II shows the relation between the apparent transmissivity and angular position of rotation of the polarizing sample on the optical axis of a spectrophotometer. When natural light is incident, light only in one polarization direction is reduced in energy to half and denoted as (a/2)+c. Therefore, the average of transmissivity gamma(theta+pi/2) at the time of 90 deg. rotation and transmissivity gamma(theta) at the time of 0 deg. is the transmissivity to the natural light.

The output signal of the sample holding circuit H2 is read in a computer CPU through an A/D converter by the measurement output of reflected light from the measured sample and further recorded on a recorder RD through a D/A converter. Thus, the contrast sample R and measured sample S are replaced with each other according to the kind of measurement, so which of two pieces f1 and f2 of luminous flux is used as contrast luminous flux is determined by switching.
