    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent increases in scattering and driving voltage and capacitive coupling, by providing electrodes on both surfaces of an electrooptic crystal element, and connecting lead lines to those electrodes, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A light beam is made incident as shown by arrow. Silver electrodes 35 and 36 are adhered to the side surfaces 32a and 32b of transparent ceramic PLZT32, so a completely parallel electric field is formed as shown by broken lines. Further, this electric fields cross the incidence direction of the light beam at right angles. Therefore, only a lateral birefringence mode is caused and trouble such as scattering is eliminated. In addition, an electric flux path from one silver electrode 35 to the other electrode 36 is straight, so integral Eds is minimized to minimize a half-wavelength voltge for turning off a shutter. Further, the PLZT32 is independent, so there is no capacitive coupling between the electrodes 35 and 36, eliminating the possibility of malfunction.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a light projected picture by imposing brightness modulation by a video signal through an optical system consisting of a polarizer and an analyzer, and a rotatory polarization part where plural of rotatory polarization control parts formed of electrooptic materials are arrayed linearly. CONSTITUTION:Light from a light source 1 is projected upon a rotatory polarization part 11 supported on a transparent supporting plate 10 through a rectangular opening plate 6, polarizer 7, semicylindrical lens 8, and mirror 9. The rotatory polarization part 11 is constituted by arraying plural of rotatory polarization control parts 19 formed of electrooptic materials on a circular transparent supporting plate 10. Those control parts 19 each have a pair of electrodes and terminal groups 21 and 22 for supplying a voltage to those electrodes. When luminous flux 20 having flat section in a thin beltlike shape passes through those control parts 19, the plane of polarization is rotated by a video signal input 18. The light modulated as mentioned above is projected on a screen by a projection lens 17, as brightness-modulated light by an analyzer 12, through scanning mirror 14. Thus, a bright picture is obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the response speed of a shutter and to reduce power consumption by applying the control electrode of a switching element for electrodes on an electrooptic element with a voltage which is a hlaf as high as a power source terminal. CONSTITUTION:A control electrode 11L is connected to a power source terminal 13a, which is grounded through the series circuit of a variable resistor 30 and a resistor 31. The needle of this resistor 30 is moved to obtain, for example, a voltage of about 0.6V /2 (lambda: wavelength). To close an electronic shutter, a transistor (TR) Tr3 is turned on. Since said voltage of 0.6V /2 is applied to the base of the TRTr3, the charging voltage V of an equivalent capacitor C0 drops by only about 0.4V /2 and the response speed of the output light of the electronic shutter increases. Further, the power consumption of the equivalent capacitor C0 is only about 60% as large as before. Thus, the response speed of the shutter is increased and the power consumption is reduced.
