    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the memory capacity by connecting a 4-phase time inversion circuit in parallel with the post-stage of an HPF composed of a digital filter, applying high pass processing to a time inversion signal obtained from them, applying time base inversion to the resulting signal and adding the signal to a current input signal. CONSTITUTION:An input signal (a) is fed to 4-phase time base inversion circuits 52-55 via an HPF 51. The signal is given to the circuits 52-55 and read from them while time is deviated by the time corresponding to the impulse response converging time. Then the output signal is supplied selectively to HPFs 58, 59 with changeover switches 56, 57, in which high pass processing is applied and a synthesis output signal (g) is obtained via a changeover switch 60. Then the signal (g) is subjected to time base inversion by a time inversion circuit 61 and the signal is added to the signal (a) via a limiter 27 and a horizontal nonlinear emphasizing output signal (i) is obtained. Thus, the memory capacity used for the time base inversion circuit is reduced and the circuit scale is decreased.

CONSTITUTION:A 1st high pass output signal (b) resulting from an input signal (a) subject to high-pass processing is fed to a time inversion circuit 41 and a 1st high pass output signal (c) whose time axis is inverted is fed to a 2nd high pass filter 42, the signal whose time axis is inverted is subject to high pass processing and a 2nd high pass output signal (d) is obtained. Furthermore, the input signal (a) is added to a limiter output signal (g) resulting from the 2nd high pass output signal (d) subject to limiter processing and the sum output signal (i) is again subject to time axis inversion. Thus, an emphasis output signal (j) whose phase characteristic is linear is outputted with respect to the input signal (a). Through the constitution above, since number of time inversion circuits in use is reduced, the circuit scale is decreased.

CONSTITUTION:A YC guard signal SY1 generated by a prescribed ROM circuit is interposed between a color difference signal C and a luminance signal Y at a time division multiplex circuit 32. The signal SY1 is formed in such a way that its level is sequentially decreased from the vicinity of an achromatic level to the vicinity of a black level, and its waveform is selected nearly equal to a waveform of a reference YC guard signal when the signal is processed by a horizontal NLE circuit 12. Thus, even when the inserted signal is replaced with the reference guard signal and the result is subjected to de-emphasis processing, waveform distortion after demodulation is reduced to reduce the deterioration in the picture quality.

Thus, the coefficient by which the noise components are multiplied can be prevented from being excessively increased, and the noise components in an always optimal level can be subtracted from the color difference data, so that the original signal components except the noise components can be prevented from being removed, and the generation of the deterioration of a waveform can be prevented.

By such a constitution, accurate frame counting is executed even when the regenerating CTL signal is not detected at the time of low speed tape travel, when a system shifts from a still reproduction to a slow reproduction.
