    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the number of components of an optical disk driving device and to enable grasping the tendency of individual malfunctions by diagnosing whether each part is normally being operated or not, when the optical disk capable of writing/reading data is driven. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 16 is built in the optical disk driving device, thereby a driving system control/diagnostic data detecting circuit 13, a signal process system control/diagnostic data detecting circuit 14 and an interface control/ diagnostic data detecting circuit 15 are controlled, and also the diagnostic data from these circuits are preserved in a RAM 17. Also, the diagnostic data are read out in accordance with the instruction from a host computer 20 and supplied to the computer 20 then displayed on a display device such as a CRT, etc. Thus, a variance of components degree of deterioration, limit of life, etc., of the optical disk driving device are informed to the user for performing the replacement/repair of the components and a backup of the data, and the like.

Light sources La, Lb, and Lc are composed of LEDs and fitted to the device 1 in a line as a displaying section. At the time of writing data, the light sources are successively turned on in the order of Lc, Lb, and La in such a way that, when one of the light sources is turned on, the other light sources are turned off. At the time of reading out data, on the other hand, the light sources are turned on in the order of La, Lb, and Lc in such a way that, when one of the light sources is turned on, the other light sources are turned off.

CONSTITUTION:A picture data in data such as picture data and processing data supplied from a data storage section 10 to an arithmetic section 30 is written in a source RAM 33 and the processing data is written in a RAM of a microcomputer 31. When the calculation of the picture data is needed, the readout address of the source RAM 33 and the write address of the output RAM 34 in the exclusive arithmetic unit 32 are controlled. Then the picture data written in the prescribed address of the source RAM 33 is written in the prescribed address of the output RAM 34. That is, the picture data subject to arithmetic processing is written in the output RAM 34 at a high speed.
