    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the compsn. which is suitable for molded items and contains no halogen flame retardant by compounding a thermoplastic resin with a specific hydroquinone-type arom. oligophosphate or an arom. polyphosphate. CONSTITUTION:A flame-retardant polymer compsn. is obtd. by compounding 100 pts.wt. thermoplastic resin (e.g. a polyester, a phenoxy resin, or polyphenylene oxide) with 0.5-100 pts.wt. flame retardant comprising a hydroquinone-type arom. oligophosphate of formula I (wherein R is H or 1-5C alkyl; Ar to Ar are each phenyl, etc.; n is 0. 5 or higher but lower than 40; and k, m, and k+m are each 0-2) or an arom. polyphosphate. In formula 1, k and m pref. are both 1; n, the number average degree of polymn., is pref. 0.8-15; pref. Ar to Ar are each phenyl, tolyl, etc.; and a pref. example of the oligophosphate is a phosphate of formula II. Further addition of a triazine deriv. and a salt of an (iso)cyanuric acid to the compsn. provides a much higher flame retardance.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To impact excellent flame retardancy to a thermoplastic resin without detriment to the resin and without any fear of the generation of noxious gases by adding a specified polyphosphonic acid amide to the resin. CONSTITUTION:An m-xylenediamine-type polyphenylphosphonic acid amide of the formula (wherein n is an integer of 3-150) is added to a thermoplastic resin. A preferred amide is one having a heating loss of 2wt.% of below at 300 deg.C when it is heated at a temperature rise rate of 20 deg.C/min in a nitrogen atmosphere in a thermobalance. A preferred thermoplastic resin is one which comprises at least one resin selected from among polyester, polyamide, polycarbonate and polyphenylene oxide.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a new polyarylene sulfide sulfone polymer of excellent heat resistance. CONSTITUTION:A polyarylene sulfide sulfone of a melt viscosity of 6.20-6.60, obtained by reacting an aromatic dihalosulfone with phenolphthalein, an alkali metal salt and a source of sulfur. An aromatic dihalosulfone is reacted with phenolphthalein in a molar ratio of 99/1-60/40 in the presence of an alkali metal hydroixde or an alkyl metal salt in an organic amide solvent and/or an organic sulfone solvent to form an oligomer having halogen atoms at both ends. Next at least one source of sulfur selected from among an alkali metal sulfide, an alkali metal hydrosulfide and hydrogen sulfide is added to the reaction system and reacted with the oligomer at 175-235 deg.C for 1-20hr. Thus, a resin having a particularly high glass transition temperature and excellent thermal decomposition resistance can be obtained. This process is industrially advantageous in that a polymer having a high glass transition temperature which can be varied can be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition capable of extremely reducing wear of object material, low specific gravity and excellent mechanical properties by blending polyphenylene sulfide with both potassium titanate fiber and aramid fiber in a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. composition comprising (A) 30-90wt.% polyphenylene sulfide, (B) 3-50wt.% aramid fiber and (C) 3-40 wt.% potassium titanate fiber is blended with (D) 0-40 pts.wt. lubricant. Poly p-phenylene terephthalamide fiber, etc., having 1-15mm fiber length is used as the component B. A polyphenylene sulfide resin having 5-100mu average length, =10 aspect ratio is used as the component C.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide resin structure that restrains a lowering of toughness, which is essential characteristics of a polyolefin resin, and has characteristics enhancing anti-permeability of chemical liquid and gas uniquely. SOLUTION: This resin structure is characterized in that it is composed of 100 wt.% of a resin composition containing (a) 20-80 wt.% of a polyolefin resin and (b) 80-20 wt.% of a thermoplastic resin except the polyolefin resin, and (c) a compatibility improver of 0.1-60 wt.% based on the above resin composition of 100 wt.%, and thickness of an interfacial phase of a molding product made of the resin composition between (a) the polyolefin resin phase and (b) the thermoplastic resin phase except the polyolefin resin, which is observed with an electron microscope, is 20-100 nm.
