    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin molding excellent in thin-wall rigidity, thin-wall impact resistance, especially, thin-wall weld strength, and excellent in the hydrolysis resistance of the weld under high-temperature high-humidity conditions by providing a weld comprising a polypropylene terephthalate resin. SOLUTION: The polypropylene terephthalate resin (PT resin) used is a thermoplastic polyester prepared from an acid component being terephthalic acid and a glycol component being 1,3-propylene glycol. It is desirable that 100 pts.wt. PT resin is mixed with 5-100 pts.wt. elastomer (e.g. olefinic elastomer) having a glass transition temperature of 20 deg.C or below, and the mean particle diameter of the disperse phase comprising the elastomer is 20 μm or below. It is desirable that 0.01-5 pts.wt. epoxy compound (e.g. diepoxy compound) is added to 100 pts.wt. PT resin. It is desirable that 0.01-20 pts.wt. nucleator (e.g. talc) is used per 100 pts.wt. PT resin.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin compsn. which exhibits a high flame retardance and excellent mechanical and electrical properties in both cases of thick-walled and thin-walled articles by compounding a polyamide resin with specified amts. of a polyethylene terephthalate resin and red phosphorus. SOLUTION: This compsn. contains (A) 100 pts.wt. polyamide resin, (B) 0.1-50 pts.wt. polyethylene terephthalate resin, and (C) 0.1-30 pts.wt. red phosphorus. Red phosphorus stabilized by coating with a thermosetting resin is pref. Pref., the compsn. further contains, based on 100 pts.wt. polyamide resin, 5-140 pts.wt. filler, 0.01-20 pts.wt. metal oxide, and 0.01-10 pts.wt. fluororesin. Polyamide 6, polyamide 66, and their copolymers are pref. as the polyamide resin; copper (I) oxide, copper (II) oxide, and titanium oxide are pref. as the metal oxide; and polytetrafluoroethylene is pref. as the fluororesin.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition having excellent thin-wall flowability, heat-resistance, organic solvent resistance and moldability and useful for electrical and electronic-relating instruments, etc., by compounding a specific polyketone copolymer with a liquid crystalline resin at a specific ratio. SOLUTION: This composition contains (A) 50-99.99 wt.% of a polyketone copolymer containing (A1 ) the recurring unit of formula I and (A2 ) the recurring unit of formula II at an A2 /A1 molar ratio of 0.01-0.10 and (B) 0.01-50 wt.% of a liquid crystalline resin [e.g. a liquid crystalline polyester (amide) containing ethylene dioxide unit as an essential component and having a weight-average molecular weight of 900-60,000]. The composition preferably further contains (C) 0.001-10 pts.wt. (based on 100 pts.wt. of the component A) of a compound selected from phosphoric acid metal salt and (hypo)phosphorous acid metal salt.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition improved in moldability and giving moldings improved in impact resistance and appearance by mixing a copolymer comprising an aromatic vinyl, an α,β-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid imide derivative and another vinyl with a copolymer comprising an aromatic vinyl, a vinyl cyanide and another vinyl and a graft polymer prepared by polymerizing an aromatic vinyl, vinyl cyanide or the like in the presence of a diene rubbery polymer. SOLUTION: This composition comprises 10-70 pts.wt. polymer (A) containing an α,β-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid imide derivative as a monomer, 0-50 pts.wt. polymer (B) containing a vinyl cyanide monomer and 10-50 pts.wt. graft polymer (C). Component C has a grafting ratio of 10% or above, contains 5-15 wt.% non-grafted polymer based on the total graft polymer composition. The intrinsic viscosity (in MEK at 30 deg.C) of the non-grafted polymer is 0.35 or below. It is desirable that components A and B are produced by bulk polymerization or suspension polymerization, and component C is obtained by emulsion graft polymerization. Components A, B and C are melt-kneaded to obtain the composition.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flame-retardant liquid crystal polyester composition which is excellent in flowability and discoloration resistance and can give a highly flame-retardant molding excellent in heat resistance, mechanical properties and moisture resistance even when the molding is thin-walled by mixing a liquid polyester with red phosphorus. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal polyester (A) comprises structural units represented by formulas I to IV [wherein R1 is at least one group selected among formulas V to XI; and R2 is at least one group selected from among formulas XII to XX (wherein X is H or Cl)]. The structural unit of formula I is derived from p-hydroxybenzoic acid, the structural unit of formula II is derived from an aromatic diol selected among 4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl, hydroquinone, 2,6-dihydroxynaphthalene, etc., the structural unit of formula III is derived from ethylene glycol, and the structural units of formula IV is derived from terephthalic acid, 4,4'-diphenylcarboxylic acid or the like. 0.01-10 pts.wt. stabilized red phosphorus (B) is added to 100 pts.wt. component A.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a turntable center for a disk capable of manifesting a high dimensional accuracy even though having a thin-walled part and having an excellent flame retardance by comprising a composition consisting of a liquid crystal resin and an inorganic filler as the main components. SOLUTION: The turntable center is composed of the composition mainly comprising (A) the liquid crystalline resin and (B) the inorganic filler (preferably glass fiber and mica), and has the flame retardance of UL-940V-O at the thickness of 0.5mm. The preferred amount of the component (B) is 10-100wt.pts. per 100wt.pts. of the component (A). The liquid crystalline polyester consisting of the structural unit of formula I, formula -(O-R1 -O)-, -(O-CH2 CH2 -O)- and -(OC-R2 -CO) (R1 is a group of formula II, formula III, etc.; R2 is the group of formula III, IV, etc.) is preferred as the component (A). An organic bromine compound is capable of compounding to the prescribed composition to afford the prescribed flame retardance. Brominated polystyrene is preferred as the organic bromine compound.

SOLUTION: This fishing line guide uses a composition comprising 100 pts.wt. of a quid crystalline polyester composed of structural units of formulae I, II and IV (R2 is p-phenylene, 2-6-naphthalene or p,p'-biphenylene, etc.) or a liquid crystalline polyester composed of formulae I, II (R1 is p,p'-biphenylene or p- phenyene, etc.) and formula IV and (B) preferably 5-400 pts.wt. of a filler such as aluminum oxide or magnesium oxide excepting their hydrates as a base material. Preferably, the composition has >=1.0W/m.K heat conductivity at 300 deg. K and the filler has >=10W/m.K heat conductivity at 300 deg. K.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flame-retardant resin composition comprising a specific thermoplastic resin, a specific resin, a non-halogen flame retardant agent and a salt between cyanuric or isocyanuric acid and a melamine, showing mechanical strength and is useful in connectors and relays. SOLUTION: (A) 100 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic resin having =25wt.% of pyrolysis residue at 850 deg.C, e.g. a phenolic resin, (C) 1-100 pts.wt. of a non-halogen flame retardant and (D) 1-100 pts.wt. of a salt between (i) a compound of formula I (R -R are each H, an aryl, an alkyl; R is the same group as NR R or NR R , or independently H, an aryl) and (ii) cyanuric or isocyanuric acid. The flame retarder of formula II is particularly preferred. The component A is preferably composed of 1-90wt.% of a phenoxy resin and a thermoplastic resin other than phenoxy resins.
