    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound useful as an intermediate for drugs in a short time, simply and in high yield without requiring heating operation in reacting a phenol corresponding to the aimed compound with a carboxylic acid anhydride by adding a small amount of an inorganic acid to the reaction system. CONSTITUTION:1 equivalent compound shown by formula I (R1 to R3 are H or substituent group) is reacted with usually 1-2 equivalent, preferably 1.2-1.8 equivalent carboxylic acid anhydride such as acetic anhydride, propionic anhydride, n-butyric anhydride or benzoic anhydride in the presence of usually 0.001-0.5 equivalent, preferably 0.005-0.1 equivalent of an inorganic acid based on the compound shown by formula I such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid or phosphoric anhydride, especially sulfuric acid usually at 0-180 deg.C, preferably 0-100 deg.C, especially 0-70 deg.C to advantageously give the aimed compound shown by formula II (R4 is H or hydrocarbon group) by simple purification and further to give efficiently moxisylyte hydrochloride (drug for circulatory organ base).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a synthetic raw material for malonic acid, barbituric acid, medicines, agricultural chemicals, etc. industrially and advantageously, by reacting ketene with CO and a nitrous ester in the homogeneous liquid phase in an organic solvent in the presence of a complex catalyst having a specific composition. CONSTITUTION:Ketene is reacted with carbon monoxide and a nitrous ester in the homogeneous liquid phase in an organic solvent in the presence of a platinum group metallic complex of the formula L2MX2 (L is a ligand consisting of an organophosphorus compound or organic arsenic compound; M is a platinum group element ion; X is halogen or acetic acid ion), e.g. bistriphenylphosphine dichloropalladium, to give a malonic diester. Preferably, a compound containing a basic nitrogen, e.g. an amide or amine, and/or a halide of a metallic element, e.g. Ge or Sn, is present in the reaction system. EFFECT:Improved catalytic stability and yield. USE:A raw material for barbituric acid.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound in high yield in high selectivity industrially advantageously, by reacting a ketene easily treatable and obtainable as a raw material with ester of nitrous acid in the presence of a Pd catalyst with the improved stability and activity of the catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Ketene shown by the formulaIis reacted with a compound shown by the formula II[R is alcohol residue(alkyl, etc.)]in the presence of a palladium catalyst to give the desired compound shown by the formula III. Well- known various kinds of palladium compounds (including their salts and complexes) can be used as the catalyst. For example, its acetate, propionate, nitrate, acetylacetonato complex may be cited as the salt, etc. The reaction is preferably carried out in a solvent such as toluene, or xylene. Since the catalytic system is a pure system of the Pd compound and the reaction is carried out at normal pressure, it is especially improved, the catalytic activity is hardly reduced, the catalyst can be used continously for a long time, and a dehydrating agent is advantageously not used.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new multi-functional oxetane compound giving a light- curing or a thermosetting resin having excellent heat resistance, mechanical properties and adhesiveness, by reacting a respective specific oxetane with a multifunctional isocyanate. SOLUTION: This compound is expressed by the formula R is H or a 1-6C alkyl; (n) is 2 or 3; X is a bifunctional or three-functional aromatic residue or a bifunctional aliphatic residue}, e.g. bis(3-ethyloxetan-3-ylmethyl)-2,4-tolylene dicarbamate. Preferably, the compound of the formula is obtained by reacting 3-alkyl-3-hydroxymethyloxetane or 3-hydroxymethyloxetane with a multifunctional isocyanate in e.g. a solvent such as benzene in the presence of a catalyst such as triethylamine at a temp. of 20-200 deg.C reaction temperature under the atmosphere of an inert gas such as helium.
