Abstract:
The present invention is aimed at providing a chair-like massaging apparatus and a forearm massager for use with the chair-like massaging apparatus, which are capable of massaging a forearm of a user as desired and allow the user to take a free posture because of absence of an arm obstructing part in an upper portion of an armrest when the forearm is not to be massaged. To this end, the massaging apparatus of the present invention is configured such that an arm rest (5) configured to support a forearm of the user is provided with a detachable member (38) that is movable along a guide rail (37) and the detachable member (38) is provided with a fitting groove (39). A forearm massager (7) configured to be capable of giving pressure stimulation to the forearm with the forearm of the user sandwiched between the fix and support portion (46) and the pressing portion (47) is provided with a fitting protrusion (40) fitted in the fitting groove (39). By removably fitting the fitting protrusion (40) into the fitting groove (39), the forearm massager (7) is removably attached to the armrest (5).
Abstract:
An adjustable massaging device includes a track comprising two rails formed on a support structure. The device includes a carriage assembly that causes a massaging unit comprising a pair of massaging members to move back and forth along the rails on the support structure. The massaging members are mounted to a rotatable shaft in such a fashion as to perform a finger pressure-like massage or a tapping massage on the interior of the massaging surface, such that a user may be massaged by contacting the exterior of the massaging surface. The adjustable massaging device may be used in the back of a chair, for example, to massage a user's back. The support structure on which the massaging unit is formed is adjustable within the chair such that, in a retracted position, the massaging members are distanced from the massaging surface and the chair may be used as a standard office chair without any massaging parts contacting the massaging surface. In a number of deployed or massaging positions, the massaging members are in contact with the interior of the massaging surface and are capable of exerting various massage pressures. The support structure may be hinged to a bracket and pivotally movable with respect to the bracket by a handle or motorized means.
Abstract:
A massage machine is provided which is adapted for effective massage by initiating a pair of therapeutic fingers into a lateral movement toward or away from each other approximately simultaneously with the start of an upward or downward movement of the fingers. The massage machine comprises the therapeutic fingers arranged on the backrest of a chair, bed or the like for supporting the back of the person to be massaged, lift means for moving the therapeutic fingers upward and downward longitudinally of the backrest, means for laterally moving the therapeutic fingers toward and away from each other, and control means for initiating the therapeutic fingers into a movement toward or away from each other by the laterally moving means approximately simultaneously with the start of an upward movement of the fingers by the lift means and for initiating the fingers into a movement toward or away from each other by the laterally moving means approximately simultaneously with the start of a downward movement of the fingers by the lift means.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus for the level adjustment and/or arching adjustment of a flexibly resilient support element (4) for the lordosic vertebrae of a sitting person, and which is fitted in the frame (1) of a back rest of a seat, each apparatus comprising a gear mechanism (12) including a worm (14), a worm gear (15), a pinion (16) and a tooth element as well as a drive means. According to the invention the gear mechanism is directly connected to the drive means in such a manner that the rigid drive shaft (13) thereof carries the worm (14) engaging into the worm gear (15), the pinion (16) being fixed axially in the worm gear (15) in tooth engagement with a gear wheel (17) in a plane parallel to the worm gear (15). The gear wheel (17) being associated with at least one reel (21) to which the one end of the sheathed cable (23) of a Bowden cable assembly (24) is fixed and onto which it can be wound, the gear wheel (17) comprising at least one projection, which coacts with stop surfaces inside the casing (11) of the gear mechanism (12) to limit in a defined manner the movement of the gear wheel (17). Preferably the drive means is an electric motor.
Abstract:
A massage machine is disclosed for massaging a person's back, as required for back trouble, therapy relaxation or the like. This machine has a framework, a covering having a sheet supporting the person, control means near the sheet, a pair of massage rollers disposed under and bearing against the sheet, a trolley supporting the rollers for lengthwise travel of the rollers, a drive for moving the trolley back and forth; and an adjusting means for repositioning the rollers transverse to the lengthwise travel thereof.
Abstract:
A bed base having first and second members which are of generally U-shaped configuration so as to slidably telescope together to permit expansion or contraction of the bed base in the lengthwise direction. Locking mechanisms coact between the telescoping legs to lock the bed base in the selected expanded or contracted position. A sheetlike cover is anchored at one end of the bed base and extends along the upper surface thereof towards the other end, at which point an intermediate part of the cover wraps downwardly around a guide drum and then projects reversely toward the other end of the bed base. The lower free end edge of the cover is connected to a compensating mechanism which adjusts the cover length, namely by moving the cover upwardly or downwardly around the guide drum, so that the upper section of the cover always stretches tautly across the upper surface of the bed base irrespective of the adjusted expanded or contracted position.
Abstract:
Safety features for a continuous motion therapy system of the type including a carriage for supporting a patient's limb, a drive unit for driving the carriage through a range of reciprocal angular movement, first and second channel neuromuscular stimulators for applying electrical stimulation to muscles of a patient's limb, and a controller for controlling the drive unit and stimulators. Both stimulator channels must be turned OFF after the controller is powered up before either stimulator channel will operate. The drive unit is enclosed by a cover. When pressure on the cover is sensed, the controller stops and reverses the direction of the carriage. The drive unit includes a drive motor which is coupled to the carriage by a linkage. Limit switches provide limit signals when the linkage reaches predetermined limit positions. In response, the controller stops and reverses direction of the carriage. A remote patient controller which is coupled to the controller by a multiconductor cable permits the patient to control motion of the carriage from a remote location. Should the cable be disconnected from the controller, or should any lead therein become open or short circuited, the controller causes motion of the carriage to stop either immediately or after the remote patient controller is again actuated.
Abstract:
A massager for massaging user's body with a pair of massaging elements pressed thereto, which comprises a main shaft carrying the massaging elements operatively with the shaft, a driving shaft shiftable vertically with respect to the axis with rotatable means carried at both ends for driving the main shaft and massaging elements, and means for controlling movements of the massaging elements in both directions of the main shaft axis and perpendicular thereto and rendering the movements to be startable always from a predetermined position, that is, from the inner side to the outer side of the user's shoulders or from his shoulder side on the back towards his waist, whereby the massaging elements can start from an optimum position for an intended massaging effect, ensuring an excellent convenience of use and a highly effective massaging operation.
Abstract:
An apparatus for personal hygiene is disclosed having a vertically reciprocating brush which is adapted to rotate about its axis. The rotatable brush projects from a housing which is mounted on a wall such that it is possible to bring the body into the path of the brush during its vertical reciprocatory movement. The vertical reciprocating and rotational movement of the brush are provided by a single power source.
Abstract:
A roller-type massager having a pair of massage rollers rotatably mounted on a horizontal axle in parallel and spaced from each other within a chair back are vertically reciprocated along the spinal column. The horizontal axle is mounted on a screw housing and supported at both ends by a pair of guide rollers which are guided along a pair of vertical rails fixedly mounted within the chair back. The screw housing has a vertical through female screw threadably connecting with a vertical elongated screw bar which is rotatably mounted between the vertical rails and driven by a motor through a V-belt and pulleys transmission.
