A process for the production of multi-layer coatings comprising the successive steps: 1) applying an 8 to 20 µm thick coating layer from an aqueous coating composition A onto a substrate provided with an EDC primer, 2) applying a 5 to 15 µm thick base coat layer from an aqueous coating composition B onto the previously applied coating layer, 3) applying a clear coat layer onto the base coat layer, 4) jointly curing the three coating layers, wherein coating compositions A and B being different from each other and wherein the coating composition A contains at least one metal platelet pigment having a thickness from 10 to 100 nm in a proportion corresponding to a pigment/resin solids ratio by weight from 0.06:1 to 0.2:1.
Abstract:
The present invention provides for a substrate coated with a multi-layer non-stick coating which resists abrasion force and corrosion. The coating comprises a pre-primer base coat layer and at least two further coating layers, wherein at least two of said further coating layers comprise one or more fluoropolymer. The pre-primer base coat layer is substantially free of fluoropolymer, and comprises a heat resistant non-fluoropolymer polymer binder composition and inorganic filler particles, wherein greater than 50% of the inorganic filler particles are titanium dioxide, and wherein at least 10 weight % of said inorganic filler particles are large ceramic particles having an average particle size of at least 14 micrometers, and wherein some or all of the large ceramic particles extend from the pre-primer base coat layer at least into the next adjacent layer. The heat resistant non-fluoropolymer binder is preferably selected from the group consisting of polyimide (PI), polyamideimide (PAI), polyether sulfone (PES), polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and a mixture thereof.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a photoluminescent coating film which allows the formation of a coating film extremely excellent in smooth properties and photoluminescence with good workability, and achieve the reduction of environment load, and a coated article excellent in designability prepared by the method. SOLUTION: When a first solvent type base coating containing a luminous material, a second solvent type base coating containing a luminous material, and a top clear coating, in order, are applied on a substrate and the formed multi-layer coating film is baked at the same time, and the resin composition of the first and the second base coatings, coating solid contents, and the amount of the solid contents of the first and the second base coating films satisfy specific conditions.
