According to an example embodiment there is provided a method for allocating an elevator in an elevator system. The method comprises constructing passenger batch size distributions for each pair of floors in a building based on passenger batch journeys, each passenger batch journey defining at least the origin and destination floor of the journey, the number of passengers relating to the journey and the time of the journey; receiving a call for an elevator; estimating the number of passengers waiting behind the call based on the passenger batch size distributions; and allocating the call to an elevator being able to serve the estimated number of passengers.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently control special call operation of double deck elevators. SOLUTION: This group management control device 10 comprises a general call input means 3 for inputting general calls via floor hall call buttons 1a-1n, a general call assignment control means 4 for assigning the input general calls to a plurality of upper and lower elevator cars, and evaluating and computing them to make the car having best evaluation values respond to the hall calls, a special call input means 5 for inputting a special call via a special call button 2 which allows the use only for a specific user, a special call response control means 6 for controlling the assignment of the special call to a machine having any upper or lower empty car most quickly responsive to the special call, when input, or to a predetermined specific machine, and a general call assignment changing means 7 for changing the general call already assigned to the upper or lower car of the specific machine to which the special call is assigned, to be assigned to the other machine to restrict new assignment to the specific car to which the special call is assigned. The invention relates to a method for operating a lift installation for transporting lift users inside a building, said method comprising the following steps: the position of lift users in the building area is detected (S11); an access authorisation is granted to the lift user for accessing the building areas (S14); a destination request or lift call is triggered by the detected lift user (S15); a lift cage (S16) is allocated to carry out the destination request or the lift call; at least one detected lift user gets into a lift cage (S17); if a lift call is triggered, a cage call is triggered by a detected lift user (S18); it is checked whether the position of the lift user that got into the lift cage corresponds to the position of the lift user triggered by the destination request or lift call (S19); and it is determined whether the lift user that got into the lift cage has an access authorisation for a destination corresponding to the destination request or the lift call (S20). The invention also relates to a lift installation for carrying out the above-mentioned method.

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling an elevator are provided to reduce time for waiting an elevator by increasing a service turnover rate as the elevator is deconcentrated to each floor. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling an elevator comprises a card reader(20), an entrance control unit(30), a keypad(50), an elevator control unit(70), and a boarding machine display unit. The card reader reads an unique identification key stored in an entrance card(10) and transmits to the entrance control unit and a communication unit(51). The entrance control unit checks the unique identification key inputted from the card reader to determine whether or not to enter and also to check entrance timeslot and schedule with respect to the entrance card. The keypad includes the communication unit and a target floor button(52). The communication unit receives the unique identification key transmitted from the card reader and transmits to the elevator control unit. The target floor button inputs each target floor for moving before boarding in multiple elevators(80). The elevator control unit recognizes the target floor using the unique identification key inputted by the communication unit. By comparing the each recognized target floor, it is classified to multiple groups consisting of a same floor and nearby floors. Each elevator is allocated depending on the classified groups and is operated.

The invention relates to a method for controlling a passenger transport system, which transport system comprises at least two passenger conveyors, as e.g. escalators (40, 42) or elevators (36, 38), which transport system comprises a control for the passenger conveyors and for controlling passenger flow in the transport system. The control is connected to a passenger flow determination device (22) for establishing a passenger flow reference value of the actual passenger flow to be expected in the passenger transport system, and which control further comprises a passenger guide system (16) for controlling passenger flow in the transport system, which passenger guide system uses a cost function considering a set of system control parameters as passenger riding time, energy consumption, passenger waiting time, passenger transport capacity, maintenance demand, etc.. The control uses a transport model (12) simulating the function of the hardware components of the transport system under consideration of correlated system operating parameters as e.g. number of active passenger conveyors, passenger conveyor speed, still-stand times, door opening times etc. in connection with passenger flow, whereby the passenger flow reference value is input to the transport model and in an optimization process the system operating parameters are optimized under use of the transport model to meet the passenger flow reference value under consideration of at least one significant system control parameter from said set of system control parameters to achieve a best set of system operating parameters. The best set of system operating parameters is applied to the control of the passenger transport system.
