Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plain bearing for an internal combustion engine assuring a low friction coefficient and excellent non-seizure characteristics while maintaining fatigue resistance. SOLUTION: The plain bearing for the internal combustion engine comprises a slide layer 6 including a lubricant outer layer 5 in which a solid lubricant is contained. The lubricant outer layer 5 contains an element which is contained in the solid lubricant at a maximum concentration of not less than 5 mass% in the lubricant outer layer, at least a particle 4 of the solid lubricant structured by gathering a plurality of primary particles exists on a surface of the lubricant outer layer 5, and the solid lubricant gathered particle exists wherein a long side of the solid lubricant particle 4 is equal to or longer than 20 μm and shorter than 100 μm in a surface visual field of the lubricant outer layer 5. Abstract: A resin composition which exhibits good sealability while keeping creep deformation to a minimum when brought into sliding contact with a mating member at a high contact pressure of over 10 MPa, and which will not damage a mating member made from an aluminum alloy while sliding in contact with lubricating oil. The resin composition is a pressure-resistant, sliding tetrafluoroethylene resin composition containing 100 parts by volume of a modified tetrafluoroethylene resin in the form of a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and partially modified tetrafluoroethylene, 5-40 parts by volume of carbon fiber, and 2-30 parts by volume of calcium sulfate whiskers having a Mohs hardness of 4 or less, and having, at 100° C., a maximum deformation rate in 24 hours, of 15% or less. A seal device to be brought into slide contact with an aluminum metal is molded from such a pressure-resistant, sliding tetrafluoroethylene resin composition.

Abstract: A lubricating coating which is free from harmful heavy metals is formed on a premium threaded joint for pipes constituted by a pin and a box each having a contact surface comprising a threaded portion and an unthreaded metal contact portion (a sealing surface and shoulder) in order to provide the joint with galling resistance, gas-tightness, and anticorrosive properties such that the unthreaded metal contact portion is prevented from yielding even when the joint is made up with a high torque. The lubricating coating comprises one or both of a rosin and calcium fluoride; metal soap; wax; and a basic metal salt of an aromatic organic acid, and preferably it further includes a lubricating powder, magnesium carbonate, and/or a carbohydrate, particularly a cyclodextrin.

Abstract: A solid lubricant composition comprises (I) 30 to 70 parts by weight of graphite, (II) 70 to 30 parts by weight of a mixture of at least two components selected from alkali molybdate, alkali or alkaline earth sulphate and alkali phosphate, the ratio of the two individual ingredients being in the range of from 0.05/1 to 20/1. Abstract: Agent for the pickling of and as an antioxidant for workpieces made of iron and steel in the case of when they are subjected to non-cutting, hot transformation. The agent is used in dry form. The agent contains: (a) 20 to 80 percent by weight of a pickling-effective compound, such as, sodium metaborate; (b) 1 to 80 percent by weight of a component, such as, graphite; and (c) zero to 79 percent by weight of at least one substance selected from group (d), (e) and/or (f). Zero to 35 percent by weight of group (d), such as, coke, can be used as substance (c) and, for example, act as antioxidants. Zero to 50 percent by weight of group (e), such as, sodium chloride, can be used as substance (c), and control the physical characteristics. Zero to 5 percent by weight of group (f), such as, ammonium chloride, can be used as substance (c) and, for example, act on the reduction of the oxides of group (a).

Abstract: The production of solid lubricant agglomerates by combining solid lubricant powder, an inorganic binder, other fillers if optionally desired, and a liquid to form a mixture, and driving off the liquid to form dry agglomerates which are subsequently classified by size or milled and classified by size to yield agglomerates of a desired size range. These agglomerates are then treated to stabilize the binder, thereby strengthening the binder and rendering it nondispersible in the liquid. The undesired size ranges can be readily recycled because the agglomerates with untreated binder can be reprocessed, thereby promoting high recovery rates.
