A wax-based lubricant compounded for use as a bullet lubricant but also useful as an additive to greases and oils for general lubricating usage. The lubricant comprises a combination of petroleum and silicone oil metallic soap greases, beeswax and graphite and molybdenum disulfide.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide dry film lubricant coatings by using a silicone resin binder, either as an aqueous emulsion or in a solvent-based system, to fix an alkaline earth metal fluoride to a substrate.SOLUTION: The compositions used to apply the coatings may also include relatively minor amounts of xylene, ammonium benzoate, a wetting agent, and/or a porosity-inducing agent, although none of those additives remains in the cured coating. Multi-layer dry film lubricant coatings are also disclosed, with the multi-layer coating having a basecoat layer as described above, and a topcoat layer made of a layer-lattice solid such as graphite or molybdenum disulfide, and a silicone resin, aluminum phosphate or an alkali metal silicate binder.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant composition for processing a seamless steel pipe totally satisfying various properties such as storage stability, transferability inside an apparatus piping, sprayability to lubrication sites and property of uniform adhesion to a high-temperature mandrel bar without losing non-carburizability or excellent lubricity to hard-to-work materials such as 13 chromium steel and stainless steel. SOLUTION: There is provided a lubricant composition whose viscosity characteristics are represented by the approximate expression: Y=a×X b , wherein Y is viscosity (mPa s); X is shear rate (s -1 ); and during stationary storage, a is 4,000 to 40,000 and b is -1.0 to -0.3; while 90 sec after shear termination, a is 1,000 to 20,000 and b is -1.0 to -0.15. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel pipe screw joint excellent in seizure resistance, rust-proofness and air tightness without using compound grease containing heavy metal which may give ill effects to environment or human bodies. SOLUTION: The steel pipe screw joint comprises a pin and a box each provided with a contact surface having a screw portion and a non-screwed metal contact portion. On the contact surface of at least one member of the pin and the box, there are formed a first layer of Hv100-500 consisting of a first metal or alloy, a second layer of Hv10-150 consisting of a second metal or alloy softer than that, and an uppermost solid lubrication overcoat layer (an overcoat layer formed by binding lubricating powder with organic or inorganic binder). This paste is free of organic solvents and is applied to a sintered porous metal layer. The multilayer material thus produced is then sintered. Since the use of organic solvents is dispensed with, health risks and the risk of fire are reduced. Moreover, the composite materials produced according to the invention exhibit excellent cavitation resistance. In addition to conventional lubricant-free applications, such as bearings, these composite materials may consequently be used in particular in gear pumps and shock absorbers.

A powdery mold-releasing lubricant according to the present invention uses a powdery mixture of a powdery organic material, which is evaporated or decomposed by heating to generate a gas, and a powdery inorganic material. A gas-solid mixed layer formed with the gas generated from the powdery mixture and the powdery inorganic material is used as a heat-insulating boundary layer. The powdery mold-releasing lubricant is inexpensive and has a superior mold lubricity.

A scroll compressor which can be mounted in an automobile has a slide bearing resulting from baking onto a back metal a sliding layer of 5-60 wt % graphite having an average diameter of 5-50 μm and a graphitization degree of at least 0.6, the remainder containing a polyimide resin and/or a polyamide-imide resin. The form of the graphite has: (a) an average shape factor (YAVE) as defined of 1-4 for the particles excluding the minute particles that are no greater than 0.5 times the average diameter, and there being at least 70% by number of particles having a shape factor (Y) in the range of 1-1.5; or (b) graphite particles having a particle ratio of at least 0.5 being at least 50% of the total by number.
