    Abstract: The invention relates to a hydraulic accumulator, especially a bladder accumulator, comprising an accumulator housing (10), a separation element disposed therein that separates within the accumulator housing a gas chamber (16) adjoining an inlet (14) on the gas side from a fluid chamber (18) adjoining an inlet (20) on the fluid side. Said inlet on the fluid side has a fluid connecting neck (22) which comprises a valve support (40) disposed in said neck and having fluid openings (42), and a disk-shaped valve body (32) that tapers towards the valve shaft (46) on its side facing the valve support (40). Said valve shaft can be pretensioned via a force accumulator (62) into the open position in which it releases the fluid opening, and can be displaced into its closed position by a displacement of the separation element (12), and projects into the fluid chamber (18) in the open position. The valve body (32) is an integral, especially one-piece component of the valve support (40) that is guided along its outer periphery (56) within the connecting neck (22) so as to be displaceable therein, thereby creating a hydraulic accumulator that is comparatively simple and inexpensive in production.

    Abstract: A hydraulic accumulator is equipped with a novel shut-off valve. The shut off-valve includes a valve body having a cylindrical hollow with a valve seat surrounding one end. The main piston including a piston head has a central opening and is slidably mounted within the cylindrical hollow of the valve body. A poppet valve has a valve head which mates with the valve seat and a valve stem which extends through the central opening of the piston to guide axial movement of the poppet valve relative to the piston. A spring is mounted between the valve head and the main piston head for urging the valve head away from the piston head. A control valve moves the piston relative to the valve body between open and closed positions responsive to signals from a computer which signals valve closing upon determination that flow rate through the valve exceeds a maximum period. The spring between the poppet valve head and the piston head exerts a force approximately equal to that of a pressure drop across the poppet valve at a predetermined maximum flow rate.

    Abstract: A valve arrangement for a pressurizable vessel includes a valve member mountable on a vessel for movement relative thereto. The valve member is formed with a passage which extends over part of the length of the valve member. A valve-actuating assembly is removably mountable on the vessel. The assembly includes a fitting surrounding the valve member with clearance at the exterior of the vessel, a housing movably mounted within the fitting, and force-transmitting elements partially received within the housing and operative for displacing the valve member between an open position in which the passage communicates the vessel interior with the clearance so as to permit fluid flow between the interior and exterior of the vessel, and a closed position in which such fluid flow is prevented.

    Abstract: A closure is provided for an accumulator. The closure comprises a drain housing, a spring within the drain housing, and hollow cup-like piston within the drain housing, which is urged into an open position by the spring. With the piston in a closed position, the accumulator port is closed and blocks the bladder from entering the drain. The piston has substantially elliptical drain holes in its cylindrical side wall. With the piston in an open condition, the drain holes extend from within the accumulator housing to within the drain housing. The wall which defines the opening of each drain hole, at the portion adjacent to the closed joint of the piston, is canted so that a vector of the forces attributable to liquids leaving the accumulator is directed against the piston to aid in keeping it open. The spring is a coiled spring, so dimensioned as to be proximate the drain housing wall so as to be removed from the flow of the stored substance as it enters and leaves the accumulator. Further, the spring abuts the piston at the end of the piston which is well within the drainage housing. The diametrcal spacing between the piston and drain housing is such as to permit the stored substances to leave the accumulator with the piston in a closed position.
