    Abstract: A telephone line interface circuit with d.c. amplifiers (12) coupled to tip and ring paths is protected against transient voltages by a crowbar-type protection device (52) coupled via a diode bridge (28, 30) to the tip and ring paths, positive and negative terminals of the diode bridge being connected respectively to ground and via a diode (54) to a negative supply voltage line for the amplifiers. The diode prevents discharge of a capacitor (26), coupled between the negative supply voltage line and ground, through the protection device when it conducts. A locked up state, in which the amplifiers maintain holding current to the protection device after a transient voltage, is avoided by further diodes (56, 58) coupled from the negative terminal of the diode bridge to inputs of the amplifiers, or by controlling a current limiter (34) to interrupt current to the capacitor when the diode is reverse biased, so that the capacitor discharges. The current limiter includes a resistance (38) and inductance (40) in series for sensing current, whereby initial charging current for the capacitor is reduced on closing of relay contacts (K1, K2) in series with the current limiter, and relay contact deterioration is avoided.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: A folder type charging battery using a solar battery is provided to allow a user to continuously use a terminal by charging the terminal with solar light on the spot. CONSTITUTION: A solar battery(100) concentrates solar light to generate a voltage or a current, that is power. The generated power is inputted to a booster circuit(110). The booster circuit(110) includes a charging unit(111) for charting power, a controller(112) for outputting a control signal to control charging and discharging of the charging unit(111), and a switching unit(113) for performing an ON/OFF operation according to the control signal of the controller(112). Power outputted from the booster circuit(110) is charged in a storage battery(130) after passing through a protection circuit(120). The storage battery(130) charges power or supplies power to a terminal(150) for its wireless communication. The protection circuit(120) consists of a PCM(Protection Circuit Module)(122) and a PTC(Positive Temperature Coefficient thermistor)(121). The PCM(122) monitors a voltage and a current of the storage battery(130). When the PCM senses an overcharged voltage, an overdischarged voltage and an overcurrent, it cuts off an electric circuit to protect the storage battery(130). The PTC(121) is a semiconductor device of which electric resistance is rapidly increased when a temperature goes up. A charging unit(140) for converting general power and supplying it is connected to the protection circuit(120), so that power supplied from the charging unit(140) is supplied to the storage battery(130) after passing through the protection circuit(120).
