Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure describe carbocyclic pseudo Tröger's base (CTB) amines. Embodiments of the present disclosure further describe microporous polymers derived from pseudo CTB amines, including, but not limited to, polyimides, CTB ladder polymers, and network porous polymers. Other embodiments describe a method of separating chemical species in a fluid composition comprising contacting a microporous polymer membrane with a fluid composition including at least two chemical species, wherein the microporous polymer membrane includes one or more of a ladder polymer of intrinsic microporosity, a microporous polyimide, and a microporous network polymer; and capturing at least one of the chemical species from the fluid composition.
Abstract:
A flexible solar cell (100) includes an interdigitated back contact (508) having a first electrode (102) coupled to a first plurality of contacts (104) and a second electrode (106) coupled to a second plurality of contacts (108). The first plurality of contacts run in a first direction (110) from the first electrode towards the second electrode and the second plurality of contacts run in a second direction (112) from the second electrode towards the first electrode. The flexible solar cell also includes a plurality of light-collecting segments (114) coupled to the first and second plurality of contacts of the interdigitated back contact. Adjacent ones of the plurality of light-collecting segments are spaced apart from each other in the first or second direction. A length of each of the plurality of light-collecting segments runs along the interdigitated back contact in a third direction (116), which is perpendicular to the first and second directions.
Abstract:
The present disclosure concerns particular biomarkers for screening, diagnosing and/or prognosticating colorectal cancer, in particular in an accurate manner. The methods and compositions concern analysis of methylation patterns of one or more of 176 methylatable genomic DNA regions identified as described herein. In particular embodiments there are methods of detecting methylatable regions in genomic sequences.
Abstract:
The present invention is a method of using a secondary fermentation process on a fermented milk product to produce a double -fermented yogurt product. The present invention is a food product of double -fermented yogurt having reduced lactose content and increased numbers of beneficial live bacteria. Specifically, the present invention is a method of making a double -fermented yogurt product utilizing mesophilic-adapted bacterial cultures in a second fermentation process to produce a double -fermented yogurt having reduced lactose content and increased numbers of beneficial live bacteria. The present method can use unfermented milk, semi-fermented milk and fermented milk as starting materials to produce the double- fermented yogurt product.

Abstract:
An out-of-plane deformable semiconductor substrate includes a plurality of rigid portions having a first thickness and an out-of-plane deformable portion having a second thickness and connecting the plurality of rigid portions to each other. The second thickness is smaller than the first thickness. The out-of-plane deformable semiconductor substrate is monolithic.
Abstract:
A wavefront sensor includes a mask and a sensor utilized to capture a diffraction pattern generated by light incident to the mask. A reference image is captured in response to a plane wavefront incident on the mask, and another measurement image is captured in response to a distorted wavefront incident on the mask. The distorted wavefront is reconstructed based on differences between the reference image and the measurement image.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure describe a clustering scheme and system for partitioning a collection of objects, such as documents or images, using graph edges, identification of reliable cluster groups, and replacement of reliable cluster groups with prototypes to reconstruct a graph. The process is iterative and continues until the set of edges is reduced to a predetermined value.
