Abstract:
A method for reducing the pro-oxidant side effects of an antioxidant substance is provided to enhance the effects of an antioxidant composition in health promotion and aging prevention. A method for reducing the pro-oxidant side effects of an antioxidant substance comprises: mixing saccharide to a composition containing an antioxidant substance. The saccharide is selected from the group consisting of monosaccharide such as dextrose, disaccharide such as lactose, and alcohol sugar such as maltitol. The antioxidant substance comprises vitamin C, epigallocatechin-3-gallate(EGCG), proanthocyanidin, or gallic acid. The weight of the saccharide is equal to or more than that of the antioxidant substance contained in the composition.

An anti-oxidative composition is provided to show synergetic effect as an antioxidizing agent by mixing a water-soluble anti-oxidative material with an oil-soluble anti-oxidative material, reduce possible side effects caused by taking a single anti-oxidative material and increase the maintenance time of in vivo anti-oxidation efficacy. An anti-oxidative composition comprises a water-soluble anti-oxidative material such as vitamin C, epigallocatechin-3-gallate(EGCG), proanthocyanidin and gallic acid and an oil-soluble anti-oxidative material such as vitamin E, curcumin, carotene, lipoic acid and coenzyme Q10. Further, the water-soluble anti-oxidative material and the oil-soluble anti-oxidative material are mixed at a weight rate of 1:2 to 4:1.

A method of manufacturing green tea with a high content of Gallocatechin-3-gallate(GCG) by subjecting green tea leaf to steam treatment at high temperature and pressure to epimerize epigallocatechin-3-gallate(EGCG) after steaming or roasting treatment of the green tea leaf is provided to increase the content of GCG by a thermal conversion method. To make green tea with a high content of Gallocatechin-3-gallate, green tea leaf is treated with steam or roasted. In the process, the steam treatment is performed more than 2 times or roasting time is increased by more than 20%. The steam treatment or roasting is performed within 30min. After the steam treatment or roasting, steam sterilization treatment is additionally performed for 1 to 240min.

A method for preparing gallocatechin gallate is provided to increase the solubility of epigallocatechin gallate into a reaction solvent by using an organic solvent and increase the conversion rate into the gallocatechin gallate through epimerization by adjusting the pH, thereby capable of increasing the production amount of the gallocatechin gallate. A method for preparing gallocatechin gallate comprises a step of converting epigallocatechin gallate into the gallocatechin gallate by dissolving the epigallocatechin gallate in an alcohol-based solvent such as ethanol and methanol or a polyol based solvent such as butylene glycol, propylene glycol and polyethylene glycol and then heating the solution at a temperature of about 120 deg.C for 30-60 minutes.

A composition containing (-)catechin is provided to increase expression of adiponectin by inhibiting expression of a transition factor KLF7(Kruppel-like factor 7) and promotes sugar absorption in adipocytes of mammals, so that the composition is useful for preventing and treating diabetes mellitus, arteriosclerosis and obesity. A composition for preventing and treating diabetes mellitus, arteriosclerosis and obesity contains 0.01-30 wt.%, preferably 1-15 wt.% of (-)catechin represented by the formula(1), wherein the (-)catechin is isolated from green tea. The daily dosage of (-)catechin is 0.1-50 mg/kg, preferably 1-20 mg/kg and the expression of adiponectin in a mammal adipocyte is increased by treating an adipocyte with (-)catechin for 24 hours.

The skin external composition for inhibiting phagocytosis of keratinocytes comprises at least one selected from genistein and daidzein, wherein the amount of genistein or daidzein is 0.0001-10 wt.%; the genistein or daidzein is an isoflavone produced from Leguminosae plants and shows estrogen effects; and the composition is formulated as cream, lotion, ointment, aqueous solution, suspension, dispersion or emulsion.

PURPOSE: Provided is a skin whitening cosmetic composition which contains rhaponticin and rhapontigenin as an active ingredient. Therefore, the composition has high skin absorption and inhibits the synthesis of melanin. CONSTITUTION: A skin whitening cosmetic composition is characterized by containing, based on the total weight of the composition, 0.0001-10 wt.% of one of rhaponticin and rhapontigenin which are extracted from Rheum coreanum Nakai.
