Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for video encoding, using a signal separation algorithm based on independent component analysis are provided to improve an existing video coding scheme having a limitation in video compression efficiency for each macro block. A centering unit regulates data average of a residual image of a macro block delivered from a DCT transformer unit. A copy/conversion unit copies and transforms the residual image of the macro block adjusted in the centering unit to create a residual image having the same dimension as the dimension of the image before an encoding operation. An image separation unit separates a macro block data approximating to original data from the residual image having the macro block generated in the copy/conversion unit through a bland source separation(BSS) algorithm.
Abstract:
A predictive coding/decoding apparatus and a method thereof using view-temporal reference picture buffers are provided to reduce the quantity of data of a single view encoder by effectively removing redundancy information between view points. A predictive coding apparatus includes a multi-view reference picture providing unit(340), a prediction unit(310), a transform and quantization unit(320), and an entropy encoder(330). The multi-view reference picture providing unit provides a reference picture for predictive encoding according to spatial-temporal GOP(Group Of Picture) information. The prediction unit predicts which part of the reference picture is referred by a picture to be currently coded and generates a vector. The transform and quantization unit obtains a differential signal between a prediction signal received from the prediction unit and a video signal to be currently coded, transforms and quantizes the differential signal, and compresses the signal. The entropy encoder encodes the quantized signal received from the transform and quantization unit and the vector provided by the prediction unit.
Abstract:
A method of encoding multi-view video using camera parameters and a method of decoding multi-view video using the camera parameters are provided. The method of encoding multi-view video using the camera parameters includes detecting the camera parameters from each of a plurality of video data input from a multi-view camera in predetermined video units, and adaptively encoding each of the plurality of the video data according to whether each video data has the camera parameters. Accordingly, it is possible to increase the efficiency of compressing video without degrading video quality.

압축된 영상을 다른 영상 압축 포맷으로 변환하는 트랜스코딩 방법 및 장치가 개시된다. 본 발명에 따라, 트랜스코딩 방법은 (a) 소정의 제1압축방법으로 압축된 비트 스트림을 디코딩하여 픽셀 영역의 데이터와 각 매크로 블록의 움직임 벡터 정보 및 매크로 블록 정보를 출력하는 단계; 및 (b) 상기 픽셀영역의 데이터를 입력받아 소정의 제2압축방법으로 인코딩을 수행하는데 있어, 상기 움직임 벡터 정보와 매크로 블록 정보를 이용하여 움직임 보상을 수행하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다. 이에 의해, H.264 표준에 따라 압축된 영상을 MPEG-4 단말기에서도 실시간으로 재생할 수 있다.
