    Abstract: An apparatus and a method for providing an extended home service in a P2P(Peer to Peer) network are provided to reduce time and cost needed for modifying or developing an application service without checking all the content of a middleware within a P2P platform by using an application programming interface provided by an extended service platform. The peer group management service unit stores information on a peer group, found on the P2P network, at a group list. The basic service module configures library type element services which can be basics when a P2P application service is generated and provided. The application service module, including a user interface(410), provides a contents sharing service(420), a messenger service(430), an HDTV remote control service(440) and other services.
