Abstract:
Abstract:
An electronic device displays a user interface in a first display state. The device detects a first portion of a gesture on a touch-sensitive surface, including detecting intensity of a respective contact of the gesture. In response to detecting the first portion of the gesture, the device displays an intermediate display state between the first display state and a second display state. In response to detecting the end of the gesture: if intensity of the respective contact had reached a predefined intensity threshold prior to the end of the gesture, the device displays the second display state; otherwise, the device redisplays the first display state. After displaying an animated transition between a first display state and a second state, the device, optionally, detects an increase of the contact intensity. In response, the device displays a continuation of the animation in accordance with the increasing intensity of the respective contact.
Abstract:
An electronic device with a display and a touch - sensitive surface displays a first keyboard on the display, the first keyboard comprising a first plurality of keys. A key activation gesture at a first a first time is detected at a location on the touch - sensitive surface that corresponds to a location of a first key in the first keyboard. In response to detecting the key activation gesture at the first time, the first key is activated. One or more contacts on the touch - sensitive surface are detected at a second time after the first time, the one or more contacts corresponding to a keyboard selection gesture. In response to detecting the one or more contacts that correspond to the keyboard selection gesture at the second time after the first time, the first keyboard is replaced with a second keyboard when the second time exceeds a predefined period of time after the first time and the display of the first keyboard is maintained when the second time is less than the predefined period of time after the first time.
Abstract:
Detecting a signal from a touch and hover sensing device, in which the signal can be indicative of concurrent touch events and/or hover events, is disclosed. A touch event can indicate an object touching the device. A hover event can indicate an object hovering over the device. The touch and hover sensing device can ensure that a desired hover event is not masked by an incidental touch event, e.g., a hand holding the device, by compensating for the touch event in the detected signal that represents both events. Conversely, when both a hover event and a touch event are desired, the touch and hover sensing device can ensure that both events are detected by adjusting the device sensors and/or the detected signal. The touch and hover sensing device can also detect concurrent hover events by identifying multiple peaks in the detected signal, each peak corresponding to a position of a hovering object.
Abstract:
An electronic device with a display and a touch - sensitive surface concurrently displays a keyboard and one or more text entry areas. A keyboard may be split with an arrangement of keys. A keyboard may be split and characters may be displayed in a first and a second text entry area. An input area with a keyboard may be moved. An input area may be reconfigured.
Abstract:
An electronic device with a display and a touch-sensitive surface concurrently displays on the display an application content area and an unsplit keyboard, the unsplit keyboard being located at a bottom of the display. The device detects a first gesture on the touch-sensitive surface. In response to detecting the first gesture on the touch-sensitive surface, the device converts the unsplit keyboard into a split keyboard and moves the split keyboard away from the bottom of the display over the application content area in accordance with the first gesture.

Abstract:
An electronic device with a touch-sensitive surface and a display displays a control for controlling a parameter associated with respective content. The device detects a gesture on the touch-sensitive surface for adjusting the parameter, and in response to detecting the gesture, the device determines an adjustment of the parameter that corresponds to an extent of the gesture. When the adjustment of the parameter would cause one or more predefined adjustment limits to be exceeded, the device generates a respective tactile output on the touch-sensitive surface, and when the adjustment of the parameter would not cause the one or more predefined adjustment limits to be exceeded, the device adjusts the parameter without generating the respective tactile output on the touch-sensitive surface.
Abstract:
An electronic device with a touch-sensitive surface, a display, and one or more sensors to detect intensity of contacts displaying a lower-level user interface that is part of a user interface hierarchy, where the hierarchy includes at least three levels, including the lower level user interface, an intermediate-level user interface and a higher-level user interface. The device also, while displaying the lower-level user interface, detects an input on a portion of the device that is associated with user interface hierarchy navigation and, in response to detecting the input, in accordance with a determination that the input meets first transition criteria, the device replaces display of the lower-level user interface with display of the intermediate-level user interface and in accordance with a determination that the input meets second transition criteria, the device replaces display of the lower-level user interface with display of the higher-level user interface.
