Abstract: 1,146,158. Imidazole dyes of the benzanthraquinone series. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 7 July, 1966 [8 July, 1965], No.30550/66. Heading C4P. The invention comprises imidazole dyes of the formula wherein A represents a 1,4-phenylene or 1,3- phenylene radical which may bear halogen atoms or alkoxy groups. They may be obtained by reacting 1,2-diamino-3,4-benzanthraquinone with compounds of the formula X 1 -A-X 2 , wherein X 1 and X 2 each represent a -COOH, - COOR, -COY, -CHO, -CHY 2 or -CY 3 group, R is an alkyl, aralkyl or aryl radical and Y represents a halogen atom. The reaction may be carried out in a solvent or diluent in the presence or absence of agents, binding water and acids. Examples are given for the production of the dyes. They are useful for dyeing or printing materials derived from natural or regenerated cellulose or linear polyamides red to violet shades.

Abstract: The invention comprises anthraquinone dyes of the formula wherein Ar represents a substituted or unsubstituted aryl radical, the radicals R1 and R2 represent hydrogen atoms and/or alkyl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or heterocyclic radicals which may bear OH, NH2, alkoxy or substituted amino groups, or together with the nitrogen atom form a heterocyclic ring, n represents an integer from 1 to 4 and R represents a halogen atom. They may be obtained by treating anthraquinone compounds of the formula wherein Ar1 represents an unsubstituted or substituted aryl radical, with chlorosulphonic acid or oleum and a halogenating agent and then treating the sulphochloride compound with at least a stoichiometric amount of a compound of the formula Specified aryl radicals are phenyl, naphthyl and diphenyl radicals. The aryl radicals may bear halogen atoms, alkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, acyl, hydroxy or acid groups. Examples are given for production of the dyes. They are useful for dyeing or printing textile materials, and other natural or synthetic materials bright violet shades.

Abstract: The invention comprises anthraquinone dyes of the formula wherein A is an araliphatic bridge whose aliphatic portion is attached to the -NH-group on the nucleus; D is a substituted or unsubstituted sulphonamide; n is 1-6; R1 is H, alkyl, halogen, -SO3H, -COOH, an unsubstituted or substituted carbamoyl or carboxylic acid ester but when one of R3 and R4 is -NH-A-(D)n, R1 is H; R2 is H, OH, amino, alkyl-amino, alkoxy or aryloxy but when one of R3 and R4 is -NH-A-(D)n, R2 is H or -OH; R3 and R4 are both H or one is -NH-A-(D)n and the other is H or -OH. The aliphatic portion of radical A may be linear, branched or cyclic and may contain hetero atoms, the aryl portion is preferably benzene but may be naphthalene or diphenyl and the aryl portion may be substituted. The dyes may be prepared by introducing -SO2Cl groups into the appropriate arylalkylamino-anthraquinone either directly with chlorosulphonic acid or by sulphonating with oleum followed by halogenation, thereafter the sulphonyl chlorides are reacted with NH3, primary and/or secondary amines. The dyes may be employed to colour fibres or films of polyamides, polyurethanes, polyesters, wool, silk, cellulose acetates, natural and regenerated cellulose. Examples are given.

Abstract: The invention comprises dyes of the general formula wherein X is a linear or branched aliphatic group of 1-5 carbon atoms, A is an aromatic radical, R and R1 are each hydrogen or unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, aralkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl or heterocyclic radicals or together with the nitrogen atom may form a heterocyclic radical, m and n are each 1 or 2 and wherein the ring C and/or the radical A may be further substituted. The dyes are made by chlorosulphonating compounds of the formula and reacting the sulphochlorides formed with ammonia or a primary or secondary amine. The compounds are blue dyes for polyamides, polyurethanes, polyesters, wool, silk, secondary cellulose acetate, cellulose triacetate and natural or regenerated cellulose and may be used as pigments. Specifications 717,455 and 923,162 are referred to.

Abstract: The invention comprises a process for dyeing and/or printing textile materials with dyes containing reactive hydrogen atoms and with uncoloured polyfunctional compounds capable under alkaline conditions of effecting wash-fast fixation of said dyes, characterized in that the dyes used are compounds of 1-amino-4-arylaminoanthraquinone having at least one sulphonic acid group on the anthraquinon nucleus whose arylamino groups are attached to an arylamino radical containing at least one sulphonamido group which is unsubstituted or is monosubstituted on the sulphonamitho nitrogen atom. The invention also comprises dye compositions containing said dyes, the uncoloured polyfunctional compounds and an alkaline reacting agent. Dyes are used having the formula, in which Z1 denotes a sulphonic acid radical, hydrogen or halogen Z11 a sulphonic acid radical, hydrogen or halogen atom at least one of Z1 and Z11 being a sulphonic acid X group denotes an unsubstituted arylene radical or an arylene radical bearing alkyl, alkoxy or sulphonic acid radicals, Y denotes an unsubstituted arylene radical or an arylene radical bearing hydroxyl, nitro, alkyl or alkoxy groups or halogen atoms, R1 denotes a lower alkyl radical or hydrogen atom, R11 is a hydrogen atom or lower alkyl or aryl radical which is unsubstituted or bears alkoxy or hydroxy groups or halogen atoms, and n has the value 1 or 2. Many uncoloured polyfunctional compounds are specified particularly derivates of hexahydro-1, 3, 5-S-triazine.
